🚨 We have reached zero funds.
Clara’s medical bills have now exceeded €9,764.11 (!!), while 23 other dogs and hundreds of cats in Karpathos continue to depend on us every single day. Please help us keep our promise to them.
Clara was hit by a car in Karpathos last September. She was severely injured, abandoned, and nameless, a life that, to many, did not seem to matter.
But at Animal Friends of Karpathos, we rescued her. We gave her a name, and with it, the dignity every living soul deserves.
Because her injuries were so severe, we transported Clara to Athens for surgery and specialized care that simply could not be provided on the island.
The cost of saving her life has now exceeded €9,764.11 and continues to rise while she is being fostered in Germany.
Sometimes people ask us: “Isn’t that too much money for just one dog?”
But a life cannot be measured in numbers.
When we sent Clara to Athens, we made her a promise.
And we do not break our promises.
Clara looks at us with bright, trusting eyes, even when the pain in her paw makes her tremble.
How could we ever tell her: “Your life has reached its limit”?
Instead, we tell her: “We’ll get you through this.”
Because Clara is a fighter. Clara wants to live. She wants to run.
She simply wants to be a dog.
But the reality is difficult.
Her surgeries, veterinary care, transportation, physiotherapy sessions, special orthopedic boot, and months of boarding during recovery have completely exhausted our funds.
We are a volunteer-run nonprofit on the island of Karpathos. We organize mass spay and neuter campaigns for stray cats and foster nearly 100% of the stray dogs of Karpathos, a truly superhuman effort.
Right now, we are fostering 23 dogs and caring for hundreds of cats across the island.
Clara has done her part. She fought. She survived. She chose to trust again.
