HydraArk

Please be informed that our association, Hydra Ark, has ceased its activities. Consequently, its independent sterilization program is no longer available. The only active sterilization program on Hydra island is now the one organized and funded by the Municipality of Hydra.
If you feed stray cats and have animals that need to be spayed or neutered, please contact the municipal coordinators at +30 699 705 0629 to book your spots and find out how to bring them. The municipal veterinary team will be operating on Hydra from October 22nd till October 27th at the Hydra Football Stadium premises, with a target of sterilizing 50 stray cats free of charge.
We wish all the best to the cats, the medical team, and all the dedicated volunteers!

Ginger is back.

The orange cat was not happy living in the apartment, so the couple brought him back to his home on the island.

We will continue feeding and taking care of him .

A big thank you to the couple took him to the vet and treated him for teeth problems.

Feel free to give some snacks in exchange of taking him a photo.

The lovely ginger male cat who has been living between Spilia and Papagalos, often sleeping peacefully on the mantel at Omilos or curled up opposite the rubbish bins, has finally found his forever home. ❤️ He was adopted by a wonderful couple who last year also opened their hearts to an elderly cat from the Spilia colony. Now, these two cats have met again and are together once more, both safe and loved. 🧡 When the couple discovered that this sweet ginger boy had severe dental problems, they took him all the way to a vet in Athens to receive the treatment he desperately needed. After caring for him and seeing what a gentle and loving cat he is, they made the beautiful decision to keep him forever. No more sleeping outside in the cold and rain, no more searching for shelter — he now has a warm, safe home, a loving family, and a forever friend. What a beautiful happy ending for a cat who truly deserves it. 🐾❤️

THANK YOU DELPHINE!

Happy international cat day!

UNLAWFUL RELOCATION OF STRAY CATS = ILLEGAL PRACTICE
The arbitrary removal of stray cats from their familiar environment and their “dumping” in other areas (e.g. farms) is NOT a legal form of animal management.
According to Law 4830/2021, stray animals are managed by municipalities, and the basic principle is their return to their original environment, after sterilization and veterinary care, whenever possible.
Relocating and abandoning them in another area:
puts their survival at risk
disrupts existing cat colonies
and may lead to administrative and criminal penalties, depending on the act (abandonment / abuse)
Stray animals are not “objects to be moved.” They are living beings protected by law.
The solution is: sterilization – care – responsible adoption.
