This is where Leaders are Made- a national branch of Toastmasters International

A dynamic forum and branch of Toastmasters International where YOU can practice becoming a great communicator, enhancing the impact of your presentations and learn about the different levels and skills of good leadership and how to transform your insights into action. Once you join as a member at a small 6 monthly fee, Toastmasters will provide you with a range of educational material through its Pathways platform, helping you to become a competent communicator and leader and also on how to tailor your body language to your message and how to better use your voice. We meet two times a month, every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 7 pm for a couple of hours and practice public speaking, giving constructive feedback and taking turns in leading the meetings. We invite you to come along as a guest at no charge to get an idea of how toastmasters meetings can help you in your personal and professional development! Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective, oral communication a worldwide reality. Our club member Vasiliki Xyfteri invites District 109 members to a four-session group mentoring series, run in Greek and in English.

The curriculum covers four areas:

Preparing for a successful Toastmasters journey: defining your goals, keeping your speeches as a personal journal, choosing electives, writing meaningful speech titles.
Giving and receiving effective feedback: the subjective nature of feedback, a richer vocabulary, and metaphors that clarify key points.
Connecting personal goals with the Toastmasters program: making speeches useful for your personal and professional life.
Your Toastmasters profile: your identity and strengths as a speaker, your leadership profile and a strategic plan for your journey.

Dates (Saturdays): 17 October, 31 October, 14 November, 28 November 2026
Greek group: 11:00 to 12:00 Athens time
English group: 12:15 to 13:15 Athens time

What would you say if you had two minutes to answer a question you weren’t expecting? 🎤

At our meeting last night we extended our Table Topics session and put our members and guests to the test with questions inspired by the evening’s theme: “Snap Back to Reality.”

And two speakers rose to the occasion. 👏

🏆 Alexandra, our Club Secretary, was asked whether she agreed with the statement “Perception is reality.” Instead of simply giving us her opinion, she told the story of the day her glasses broke, and the suddenly very real challenge of trying to make her way home when she could barely see.

🏆 Konstantin, one of our guests, was asked to tell us about a time when reality turned out very differently from what he expected. He shared how early failures at work eventually gave way to success, and the realization that perhaps the problem wasn’t his ability at all. He had simply started out in the wrong career field.

Two very different prompts. Two memorable stories. And in the end, a tie for Best Table Topics! 🎉

That’s part of the fun of Toastmasters: you never quite know what question you’ll get, or what story you’ll discover you have to tell.
