What does it take to transform digital agriculture education in widening regions of Europe? 🌱

At TALLHEDA, we believe the answer lies in three things: the right alliances, the right tools, and the right people.

Over the past 33 months, our consortium of 9 partners from Greece, Serbia, and Belgium has been putting that belief into practice:

🔬 Building a Standardised Citizen Science Protocol that puts farmers and students at the heart of agricultural data collection

🎓 Developing 20+ open-access training modules on digital agriculture funding, financial planning, and innovation

🤝 Running Brainstorming Actions, staff mobilities, and clustering events that connect researchers, educators, and practitioners across borders

🌐 Creating a Virtual Innovation Hub where knowledge lives openly and permanently — for anyone, anywhere, for free

Digital agriculture is not just about technology. It is about capacity, trust, and collaboration. And that is exactly what TALLHEDA has been building — one
alliance at a time.

9 months to go. Watch this space. 👀

🍓 TALLHEDA at AgroReS 2026 in Trebinje!

From 25 to 28 May 2026, our partner TERRA represented TALLHEDA at the XV International Symposium on Agricultural Sciences — AgroReS 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka in Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

TERRA presented a scientific poster entitled:

🔬 “Digital Twins in Strawberry Cultivation: A Systematic Literature Review”

The poster explores one of the most exciting frontiers in precision horticulture — the application of digital twin technology to strawberry production. Key highlights include:

✅ The potential of digital twins to enhance strawberry cultivation through real-time crop and environment monitoring

✅ Optimised irrigation scheduling driven by continuous sensor data and predictive modelling

✅ Data-driven decision-making across the full strawberry production cycle

✅ Key technical, methodological, and economic challenges that must be overcome for successful large-scale deployment of digital twin systems in strawberry production

📚 TALLHEDA's knowledge is reaching farmers and agrifood professionals across Europe — in two languages!

Over the past months, our partner REZOS BRANDS has published four articles on Wikifarmer, one of the world's most widely read agricultural knowledge platforms with over 12 million visitors in 17 languages. 🌍

The articles cover two key topics at the heart of TALLHEDA's mission:

🌱 Digital Agriculture in Practice: How Agrifood SMEs Can Turn Data into Profit and Sustainability
🇬🇧 English: https://wikifarmer.com/library/en/article/digital-agriculture-agrifood-smes-data-profit-sustainability
🇬🇷 Greek: https://wikifarmer.com/library/el/article/psifiaki-georgia-mme-agrodiatrofikos-tomeas-dedomena-kerdos-viosimotita

🌱 Bridging the Innovation Gap in Agriculture: The Role of Training, Education and Collaboration in Agrifood SMEs' Digital Transition
🇬🇧 English: https://wikifarmer.com/library/en/article/bridging-innovation-gap-agriculture-training-education-collaboration-agrifood-smes
🇬🇷 Greek: https://wikifarmer.com/library/el/article/katartisi-synergasia-mme-agrodiatrofikos-tomeas-psifiaki-kainotomia

By publishing in both English and Greek, REZOS BRANDS is ensuring that TALLHEDA's insights reach not only the international research community but also the Greek-speaking farmers, cooperative managers, and agrifood entrepreneurs who need them most. 🙌

🌍 TALLHEDA at the EU-CONEXUS Research Conference 2026!

On June 11th, 2026, Smart Agro Hub represented TALLHEDA at the EU-CONEXUS Research Conference, held in Athens — a flagship event of one of Europe’s most active Higher Education alliances, bringing together nine partner universities from across the continent.

This year’s conference focused on the challenges faced by communities in urban and semi-urban coastal regions, exploring their societal impact and the innovative solutions that science and policy can offer — with soil degradation featuring as one of the key thematic areas, a topic with direct relevance to sustainable digital agriculture and the work we do within TALLHEDA.

Participating in EU-CONEXUS 2026 gave TALLHEDA a platform to engage with a high-level audience of researchers and university representatives from across Europe — sharing how our project builds lasting alliances between leading and widening HEIs in digital agriculture, and how the frameworks, protocols, and training tools we have developed can contribute to the broader European research and education ecosystem.

The conversations at events like EU-CONEXUS remind us that the challenges we tackle in digital agriculture — soil health, resource efficiency, data-driven farming, inclusive education — are deeply connected to the wider sustainability and societal transformation agenda that European universities are working together to address. 🌱
