KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. RECOGNISE HATE. SPEAK UP.
Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected and included. But for many young refugees and migrants, racist behaviour, discrimination and hate can become such a regular part of everyday life that they risk being seen as normal. At Velos Youth, we believe this should never be the case.
That’s why we’re organising a workshop to help young people understand what a hate crime is, how it differs from discrimination, and what they can do if they experience or witness such an incident.

Velos Youth has registered with the Racist Violence Recording Network (RVRN), and our team has received training to record and report incidents of racist violence. A designated staff member and volunteer will support this process, providing a point of contact for young people who wish to share their experiences.
Why does this matter?
To give young people a voice and ensure their experiences are heard.
To raise awareness of their rights and help them understand where and how to seek support. To make racism visible by documenting incidents that might otherwise go unreported.
To contribute to a wider picture of racist violence at national and European levels.
We know that reporting an incident can be difficult, and no one should feel pressured to share an experience before they are ready. Our aim is to provide information, support and a safe point of contact.
