At IOM Greece, we conduct awareness-raising activities on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) for our staff and partners, reinforcing the standards of conduct expected of everyone working with and on behalf of IOM.

By promoting ethical behaviour, accountability and knowledge of reporting mechanisms, we work together to prevent misconduct and ensure that concerns are taken seriously.

Tragic incidents off Lesvos & Samos have claimed 12 lives, including a woman and an infant.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. These tragedies are a reminder of the urgent need to prevent further loss of life and ensure safe and regular pathways for migration.

🤝 Strengthening cooperation to support employment and integration.

IOM Greece met with representatives of the Regional Observatory for the Diagnosis of Labour Market Needs in the Region of Western Greece to exchange information on the Observatory’s work and the Helios+ Project, and explore potential areas for cooperation.

The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration and information-sharing to better connect labour market needs with opportunities for people under international protection.

Through HELIOS+, IOM Greece continues to support integration by promoting access to employment and empowering participants to build their future in Greece.

🗺️ Learning Greek through exploration!

Six young participants took part in a multilingual treasure hunt in Thessaloniki’s Upper Town, discovering local landmarks, reading messages in Greek and exploring the city’s cultural heritage.

Through this interactive activity, they practised their language skills, strengthened teamwork and built connections with their local community.

Connecting People with Employment Opportunities

As part of the Helios+ Project Attica, International Rescue Committee , in cooperation with , organized a hybrid employability event to support participants in accessing employment opportunities.

The event included an information session on using public transportation to commute to work, employer presentations by Markakos Constructions S.A. and HAS - High Aesthetic Surfaces, and individual interviews with interested participants.

By combining practical information with direct contact with employers, the initiative aimed to facilitate participants’ access to the labour market and support their steps towards employment.

A little laughter can make a big difference. ❤️🤡

RED NOSES Emergency Smile visited the IOM shelter for unaccompanied minor girls in Ilion, Greece, as part of the Emergency Smile programme.

Through humour, music, interactive games and magic tricks, the artists created moments of joy, connection and shared experiences for the nine girls who took part.

At IOM Greece, we recognize the importance of emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive social interaction in supporting children and young people affected by crisis and displacement.

While absolute figures on arrivals are down, the increase in proportion of West African nationals across Mediterranean routes, points to a shifting migration landscape, underscoring the need to monitor developments across routes.

Fewer arrivals do not mean safer journeys.

New IOM data shows arrivals to Europe from West Africa have fallen sharply. Yet thousands, especially young people, continue to risk their lives at sea in search of a better future.

Safe pathways, jobs and opportunities are critical so fewer young people feel they have no choice but to make dangerous journeys.

🎨 Bringing children together through sports, creativity and play!

With the support of IASIS NGO, children from all accommodation facilities in Athens came together at Thermidos Park for a day of sports and recreational activities.

Through football matches and creative activities, the children had the opportunity to build friendships, develop teamwork and cooperation, and express themselves in new ways.
