The Beehive
The Beehive is a new initiative by a group of long-term volunteers with experience in coordinating collaborative workshops and co-learning spaces. The Beehive is a welcoming and supportive creative space with a focus on art as therapeutic practise. It provides equipment, materials and studio space to enable a return to, or discovery of, creative arts and skilled crafts via the provision of classes, workshops and skill shares.
Access to creative pursuits is often unavailable to those struggling within the harsh conditions of the Greek and EU asylum process. We hope, through The Beehive, to provide a space dedicated to individual needs, community building, resilience, and psychosocial support. In particular, the Beehive looks to centre itself around women and LGBTQ+ migrants and asylum seekers.
With a focus on sustainability, creative reuse and healing we have created a new space with workstations for jewellery making, textile arts, drawing and painting. We collaborate with both local and international creative practitioners to offer a wide variety of programming and are always open to new projects.
