‘Doris’ was founded on October 2011, by a team of animal loving p

eople that live
in Argostoli with the collaboration and help of the municipality of Kefalonia who
provided the land for the shelter. It was quickly embraced by all animal loving people in the island. Doris’ aim is to rescue, provide care and shelter, rehabilitate and re home
Kefalonia’s stray animal population. It tries to provide the strays with all the
medical care they need and promotes a neutering program that will help birth
control and public health. Moreover, ‘Doris’ tries to achieve the social and
physical rehabilitation of the animals promoting animal adoption by
individuals/families. In addition, it tries to raise public awareness and
organize groups of volunteers and programs for the animal care and welfare. The name of our shelter is ‘ARK’ (Animal Rescue Kefalonia).

🇬🇷 Χθες το ARK ήταν γεμάτο με κάθε είδους παλιά Volkswagen από διαφορετικές χώρες. Πέρυσι μείναμε πολύ έκπληκτοι καθώς τρία παιδιά αυτής της χρονιάς ήρθαν να μας επισκεφτούν. Χθες, ωστόσο, ήρθε όλη η ομάδα να μας επισκεφτεί και έφερε φαγητό για τα σκυλάκια και γατάκια μας. Ήταν υπέροχο που είδαμε ξανά τα γνωστά μας πρόσωπα, καθώς και τους νέους Volwageners. Είδαν όλα τα ζώα μας, έδωσαν γάλα στα γατάκια και πήραν πολλές αγκαλιές. Τους ευχαριστούμε πολύ που επέστρεψαν και φρόντισαν τα ζώα να έχουν μμφαγητό για λίγες μέρες. Ιδιαίτερα ευχαριστούμε τον Χάρη Αμούργη και τη σύζυγό του για την επιτυχημένη οργάνωση. Επίσης, ευχαριστούμε το online περιοδικό Kefalonitis για το υπέροχο φωτογραφικό ρεπορτάζ. Τους ευχόμαστε ένα υπέροχο Σαββατοκύριακο στην Κεφαλονιά και ελπίζουμε να τα ξαναδούμε του χρόνου!!

🇬🇧 Yesterday ARK was filled with all kinds of oldtimer Volkswagens from different countries. Last year we were very surprised as three of that years group came to visit us. Yesterday however, the whole group came to visit us and brought a wonderful donation of dog and cat food. It was lovely to see the familiar faces again and also new Volwageners. They saw all our animals, gave the kittens milk and gave and got many cuddles. We thank them very much for coming back and making sure the animals have food for a few days. In particular we thank Charis Amourgis and his wife for organising this and making it such a success. Also we thank Kefalonitis for the wonderful photo report. We wish them a lovely weekend on Kefalonia and hope to see them again next year!!
