Meet the Huglesmugle 🌱
From a patch of dry ground to a living winter garden: this is how we built our hugelkultur bed at Agape, step by step.
We dug a trench half a metre deep, lined it with cardboard, packed it with logs, branches, straw, and cuttings, then buried it all under soil and compost. Now it’s planted for the Cretan winter.
Why we made it:
🪵 Buried wood soaks up the autumn rain and releases it slowly
🌿 It feeds the soil as it breaks down and improves over time.
💧 It’s designed to need less watering, with drip lines to help
♻️ Our own prunings become the foundation of the bed
