“THE PRESENT MOMENT”
A week of awakening
with the team of the School of All Relations (SOAR):
Brigitte Mesdag, Jan Quintens, Christina Chorafa, Spiros Kourkoulos
13 – 20 November 2020
Even though SOAR is aimed at young adults aged 18 – 30, people of all ages often ask us how it could be possible for them to participate. So this year, for the first time, we decided to propose a week-long session open to all, based on the principles and practices of the School of All Relations.
In essence, we invite you to take with us some steps of awareness on the path of inner freedom.
From first peoples to ancient greek philosophers, eastern sages or western mystics, it is a path common to all the great spiritual traditions, beyond dogmas and religions. It can also be called the path of truth, or the path of awakening, or simply, the path of happiness. It can actually be named after any of our great qualities, beauty, kindness, wisdom, peace, as this path ultimately leads us to the recognition that all is one. That we all are cells of a mysterious universe, all interconnected.
It is an education of consciousness.
At SOAR, the grounds for this education is in cultivating awareness in all our relations: ourself, others and the world.
And as that is a long journey, going through many diverse landscapes, other sessions will follow, so that we can delve deeper and deeper into our being, strengthening our ability to remain fully present and serene in any kind of conditions.
The purpose of this session is to awaken to a deeper realm of being, unlocking mechanical thoughts and behaviours, liberating our connection to our core, our source.
The womb of this awakening will be the present moment.
Our role as a support team, while fellow travellers as well, will be to offer a safe framework and appropriate practices which will help us ground ourself in full awareness of the here and now.
Landing in the present moment, veils are lifted, our truth clarified.
In Greek, the word truth, «Alitheia», etymologically means «coming out of oblivion».
The freshness of the present moment has the ability to spark our remembrance. Our waking up.
Waking up, I feel infused with the power of the universe.
At the same time, I feel vulnerable as a child.
SOAR embraces this child so that it can grow confidently, without losing any of the power. Some aspects of our truth are not always easy to deal with. And yet, embracing them is a basic condition, our main and necessary step towards their transformation, and consequently towards inner freedom.
We will cultivate mindfulness.
We will practice yoga and dance.
We will explore non-violence in our relation to ourself and to others, bringing awareness to our habit energies, learning how to be genuine in all circumstances.
We will share in non-judgemental, truth centred circles, eliciting personal insight and collective intelligence.
We will strengthen and develop our connection with nature.
SOAR is really a living organism, combining methods, tools, teachings, experience, live elements and emerging situations. It is a continuous midwifery process of the teacher that each one of us holds inside, addressing body just as much as heart and mind. The individual as much as the group. Our nature as much as Nature in which we participate.
And most importantly, the relation between them.
Once our relation with our body, our emotion and our mind is cleansed, these three aspects come into balance and meet in the present moment.
Now spirit can enter, spirit can emerge.
Now we actively participate in the harmonic, illimited flow of existence.
Now we can aptly serve the whole.
Now we dance, in step with Life herself.
And at SOAR we love to dance!
