Dear Harvest Co-workers,
Subject: Call for help to humanize Lola's prison
Dear Harvest Co-workers,
I hope this message finds you healthy and hopeful. As you already know, our team is currently in Lola as part of our prison ministry, where we began our activities this morning with a meeting with the local Justice of the Peace. He explained to us the many difficulties he encounters in the management of Lola prison, completely abandoned by the government and humanitarian organizations because of its geographical distance, being located about 1,000 km from the capital, and poor road conditions.
After our interview with the Justice of the Peace, we immediately visited the prison to become aware of the reality on the ground. We were warmly welcomed by Madame le Régisseur and her team, who told us about the lamentable conditions in which they work daily.
Lola's prisoners live in deplorable living conditions: they are housed in a small building with two bedrooms and a very dirty living room, with urine and filth strewn everywhere. The cells are in a critical state, with holes in places, without mats, and the detainees lie down directly on the damp, holey floor, like animals. They suffer from malnutrition, diseases without adequate access to medicine, lack of mats and blankets to protect themselves from the cold.
We have identified three cases of very serious illnesses among the detainees. Words fail me to describe the extent of the pitiful living conditions in which these poor souls must survive.
We are committed to filling these gaps by providing materials for repairs, bringing mats and medicine, sending the three serious cases to the hospital, providing them with dignified meals and providing them with seals with blankets. so that they can store drinking water and relieve themselves in more hygienic conditions.
N/B: Please see the photos of this prison attached to this message to better understand the situation.
Dear friends in Christ Jesus, this situation concerns us all deeply, and this is why we ask for your spiritual, material and financial collaborations to humanize this prison and relieve these desperate prisoners.
We therefore humbly ask you to support us with your prayers, for the additional financial provision of God, and if possible, to contribute financially so that we can respond effectively to the urgent needs of these destitute prisoners.
We are convinced that your generosity and compassion will make a difference in the lives of these prisoners, bringing them some comfort and hope in these difficult times.
Thanking you warmly in advance for your support, we pray that the Lord bless you abundantly.
Cordially,
Your brother in Christ,
Joel
