You may have noted with concern that someone’s child didn't roll over or babble or smile when everyone Else's children seemed to. This I realized after I made a visit to the children paediatrics- surgical unit at the main referral hospital of my country The Gambia, Edward Francis Smalls Teaching Hospital formally called Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH). A fellow Red Cross volunteer had a ca
r accident in which the car amputated her right foot. Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable in the world. In most countries especially in The Gambia, child disability is mainly caused by accidents. Most of these children are operated upon and either their leg is amputated or their hands are fractured. They are usually admitted for months in the paediatrics unit for treatment. According to survey, almost all of these children come from poor families whose only thought is how to pay the child’s medical bills. The child therefore lacks all the happiness needed as a result starts to build other complications. This can be prevented with little help and support to give these innocent children a smile on their beautiful faces for them to recover rapidly as they are capable of learning and developing new skills, just as any other child. For these amongst other reasons, the Kids interest and Smiling Arena (KISA) is formed. This will give us the opportunity to participate in the wellbeing of those affected directly and indirectly through the provision of certain assistance and fun to keep a smile on their faces and that of their parents. The assistance as planned will be in the formed of cash and kind from philanthropist and other concerned people in the country and even beyond to be given to the most vulnerable in the paediatrics Ward and other nearby health centers/ Clinics. To buy the materials needed to conduct this operation, our main need is fund from individuals like you. Your donation will go a long way in making a positive change to the life of others.
