Do you know?

Thousands of children in rural communities walk long distances to school every single day, often under harsh weather conditions and on empty stomachs. For many families living in poverty, transportation is barrier to education.

A bicycle can reduce travel time to school by more than half, improve attendance, reduce fatigue, and give children, especially girls, a better chance to stay in school and succeed.

Through the Rotary Ireland Bicycle Project, Caritas Gambia continues to put mobility into the hands of students who need it most, turning bicycles into tools for education.

The Caritas Gambia Director and team paid a routine visit to one of our returnee beneficiaries in the North Bank Region. Through horticulture, he is growing vegetables, oranges, and lemons, with plans to expand into watermelon farming next season, a strong step toward sustainable reintegration and self-reliance.
