Tresor Women Warriors: Creating Market Access Within Our Own Network

At Tresor Women Warriors, we are not only producing, we are creating market opportunities within our own network.

Our National President, Kumba Daffeh-Kah Tresor , produced these Guana peppers in Kwinella and supplied them to Fatou Cessay, President of Tresor Women Warriors in Medina Kaif, Kiang, who will traveled to Farafenni Loumou tomorrow to sell them.

This is what a women led agricultural value chain looks like: one woman produces, another markets, and the value stays within our network.

We are building an ecosystem where women support women, create markets for one another, and turn agriculture into sustainable economic opportunity.

We grow. We trade. We support. We prosper together.

We are not just growing crops. We are building an economic ecosystem owned and driven by women.

At Tresor Women Warriors, we are creating a women led agricultural value chain where women can participate at multiple levels; from financing and production to wholesale purchasing, distribution, and retail.

Today, Tresor Women Warriors Ramatoulie Bah, took a bus and traveled all the way from Fara Fenni to our Tresor Women Headquarters to purchase papaya directly from our farm for resale.

That journey represents something much bigger than a bus ride.

It represents market access, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity.

Empowering Women and Youth Through Agribusiness

Today, Tresor Women Warriors attended the launch of two new initiatives by the Government of The Gambia and FAO, aimed at expanding support for young people and women entrepreneurs across agrifood systems, including tropical fruit value chains.

The initiatives will:

* Train 200 young women and men;
* Strengthen 100 youth-led agribusinesses;
* Connect new enterprises to FAO’s Agri-Accelerator Hub for coaching, mentorship and access to finance; and
* Promote responsible business practices and sustainable livelihoods for women farmers and workers.

As women actively engaged in agriculture and agribusiness across The Gambia, Tresor Women Warriors welcomes these initiatives. Investing in our youth and women is investing in the future of our food systems, our economy, and our nation.

The Tresor Women Warriors in Kwinella are deeply grateful to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock & Food Security we received 10 bags of fertilizer.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Chief of Kiang Central, Lang Pura Sanyang, for his inclusiveness and for ensuring that the Tresor Women Warriors were included in the distribution. Your recognition of the role women play in agriculture is truly appreciated.

Gambian women are a powerhouse in agriculture. Their hard work, resilience, and commitment are a major reason why our agricultural sector continues to produce and sustain communities. Supporting women farmers is simply an investment in food security, livelihoods, and the future of The Gambia.

Every day, I receive calls from Tresor Women Warriors across the country asking where they can access fertilizer. I sincerely hope we can secure more bags so that we can reach and support our women farmers in the other regions as well.

We are grateful for this opportunity!!
