Kotu First Meets the Council of Elders
On Sunday, we held a meeting with the Kotu Council of Elders to seek their guidance and blessings for the Kotu First development projects.
We sincerely thank the Council of Elders for their wisdom, support, and invaluable advice. May Allah continue to bless them with good health, long life, and strength so that we may continue to benefit from their guidance and blessings as we work together for the development and progress of Kotu.

In this new phase of development, we are proud to present our new developmental initiative, “KOTU FIRST DEVELOPMENT PROJECT.”
This initiative is aimed at bringing together the different age groups and stakeholders within Kotu to work collectively towards a common goal of community development and unity. It consists of our mothers through the women Kafoos, the Council of Elders, and the youths of the community.
The “Kotu First” phase is intended to promote the spirit of putting Kotu first in everything we do. It will focus on several developmental projects and initiatives that will benefit the entire community and improve the welfare of our people.
We therefore call on everyone to warmly welcome and support this initiative and proudly embrace “Kotu First” as our new developmental term and vision for progress.
Together for Development. Together for Kotu. KOTU FIRST!

In response to the requests made by the various speakers, the CEO of the Vision Development Foundation, Modou Turo Darbo, made several donations to support the development of the Kotu community.

The donations included twenty solar lights for the community, a cash donation of GMD 25,000 to support the Central Mosque, and another GMD 25,000 for the maintenance of the water meter at the women’s market. In addition, a metal chain-link fence worth GMD 50,000 was donated to support the women’s garden project.

To further promote education and community development, an amount of GMD 100,000 was donated as a start-up contribution towards the community school project, while another GMD 100,000 was donated for the completion of the medical mosque.

All these contributions are geared towards the growth and development of the community and the improvement of the welfare of its people.

Several speakers took the floor to address the gathering. Among the speakers were the youth representative, women representative, council of elders representatives, and the community Imam. All the speakers unanimously spoke about the need to support the establishment of a community school, considering the many challenges parents face in ensuring their children have access to basic education.

The speakers also highlighted the difficulties faced by women due to uncontrolled animals destroying crops at the women’s garden, as well as the lack of running water at the women’s market. These issues were identified as major concerns affecting the community and requiring urgent attention and support.

Over the weekend, we witnessed a remarkable rally organized by our mothers, the Kotu Women Kafoos, in collaboration with the Vision Development Foundation led by Modou Turo Darbo. The event attracted hundreds of people from different walks of life who came out in large numbers to grace the occasion. Among the attendees were religious leaders, members of the council of elders, youths, and many other respected personalities from the community.
