Youth + Environment = Real Change ๐ŸŒฑ

Today was more than a meeting it was a conversation rooted in hope, responsibility, and action. We sat down with the National Environment Agency (NEA) team, including Deputy Executive Director Njaga Touray and ED Dawda Badji, to talk about what really matters: the environment and the youth who will protect it.

โœจ Here's what stood out:
NEA understands that youth are not just participants, they are leaders in environmental action.
Their slogan? โ€œCatch them young.โ€ Because when we empower young people early, we build a generation that cares.

The agency is ready to move beyond discussions, they want action on the ground.

A vibrant MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) is on the table to formalize our collaboration and make impact measurable.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Njaga Touray, NEA Deputy Executive Director said it clearly:
โ€œWe understand the role of youth when it comes to the environment, and you people represent that. Our networks in collaboration will be our advantage to embolden our activities.โ€

NEA Executive Director Dawda Badji reminded us:
โ€œIn environmental management, we have a slogan: catch them young.

What we want to see is action on the ground.โ€
And yes, there was honesty too. One bold truth shared: โ€œOne of the biggest polluters in this country are the youth.โ€ Not to shame, but to wake us up. Because if we're part of the problem, we must also be the solution.

๐Ÿ™Œ Modou Lamin Gassama, Country Coordinator for the Youth Climate Council (YCC) The Gambia, took the time to explain what YCC is all about, and why this partnership with NEA is a game-changer.

๐Ÿ’ฌ This isn't just about Collaboration.
It's about building trust.
It's about turning energy into action.

It's about youth and institutions working side by side for a cleaner, greener Gambia.

To every young person reading this:
Your voice matters. Your actions matter.
Let's catch this moment and catch them young.

With nearly 38% of the countryโ€™s population aged 15 to 34, supporting youth engagement in agriculture is essential to building more inclusive, sustainable and resilient agrifood systems.
