The establishment of Progress The Gambia Foundation is thus most timely. It calls for leadership from all organizations, institutions, businesses, and sectors of society. It shall illustrate the many and varied ways that people have shown their commitment to women and youth welfare and empowerment; and it shall emphasize the need to give them the best possible start in life, to ensure that every person completes the best possible start in life and to involve women and youths in particular – in making decisions that affect their lives.
But together we can build a better world than we found - a world fit for women and young people which is a world, fit for all – if each of us does our part and take each other’s well-being as our responsibility.
This foundation is here to galvanize our collective efforts and strengthen global partnership, alliancing and networking where women and youth can provide for themselves, and be financially stable to make this world a better and more peaceful home for all, where all of us can survive, grow, thrive, learn, play and in effect feel safe.
Of all the lessons learned, the critical role of leadership is the most important one to take with us on this journey. Leadership is imperative if we are to improve the lives of people, their families, and their communities. We must put the best interest of the people, especially children and young people at the heart of every political and business-making decision, and at the center of our day-to-day behavior and activities.
