African Youth Entrepreneurship Academy "ayea" MISSION: Empower youth & SMEs in The Gambia through skills, formalization & advocacy. National BSO. Certified: ITC, GCCI. ILO Service Provider.

VISION: A Gambia where youth & SMEs are skilled, formalized & driving growth. The African Youth Entrepreneurship Academy AYEA is a Registered International Youth Organization and was founded during the 3rd Pan African Youth Conference 2019 held in Banjul-Gambia in March 2019 Organized by The AFRICAN YOUTH COMMISSION, with the sole aim of placing young people through entrepreneurship development to enhance and foster economic security for young people that will, in turn, translate to national development. We have a membership of over 150 young entrepreneurs with registered business in The Gambia. AYEA has its headquarters in Banjul, The Gambia, and Sub Office in Ghana. Some of our partners in The Gambia includes, The National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI) under the ministry of Youths and Sport and The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry – GCCI. To provide technical entrepreneurship support from grassroots level for young aspiring entrepreneurs, to marginalize youths with assertive and development skills in Africa who would be interested in entrepreneurship. MISSION

The mission of the organization is to promote the interaction and advancements in innovation and entrepreneurship development within Africa and address social economic problems in the society that affects the young people.

The visit focused on understanding the club’s needs, exploring opportunities for strategic partnership, and laying the groundwork for impactful collaboration. Through this engagement, AYEA aims to co-design initiatives that provide mentorship, capacity building, and practical entrepreneurship training to students.

We are inspired by the enthusiasm and shared vision of the students and look forward to building a strong partnership that empowers the next generation of young entrepreneurs.

School Outreach | Engaging Masroor Senior Secondary School Commerce Club

Today, the AYEA Volunteer Team today had a meeting with the Commerce Club of Masroor Senior Secondary School.

This visit is part of AYEA’s ongoing High School Commerce Club Engagement Drive — a key component of our School Outreach Program under our volunteer Program 2026.

Purpose of the Visit:
1. Needs Assessment: To understand the club’s priorities, challenges, and aspirations
2. Strategic Partnership: To lay the foundation for a formal collaboration between AYEA and Masrood Senior School
3. Program Implementation: To co-design activities that deliver real impact for students

Key Areas of Partnership:
1. Mentorship for aspiring young entrepreneurs
2. Capacity Building to strengthen entrepreneurial and business skills
3. Targeted Trainings to prepare students for the business world

We thank the Masroor Senior School Commerce Club for the warm reception and shared vision. This is the first of many strategic engagements as we work to empower the next generation of business leaders across The Gambia.

Meet the Pioneers | AYEA Volunteer Program Pilot Cohort 2026

Today, the African Youth Entrepreneurship Academy | AYEA officially welcomed our first cohort of volunteers during their Orientation Session.

These pictures captures the inaugural team of the AYEA Volunteer Program Pilot, running from June to December 2026.

Under the guidance of our Volunteer Program Coordinator Nass Sohna these dedicated young leaders will:
1. Support AYEA Management in daily operations and organizational excellence
2. Launch unique initiatives to impact Young Entrepreneurs in Senior High Schools
3. Strengthen High School Commerce & Business Clubs across The Gambia
4. Deliver programs and activities for AYEA’s growing membership

Our Executive Director, Abdoulie D Bah Abu Maryam Wa Habiba, also took participants through business formalization, highlighting the necessary processes involved and the importance of formalizing a business for growth and sustainability.

At the end of the training, participants were awarded certificates as a source of motivation and recognition for their active participation.

We are grateful to the Commerce Club of John Pickering Comprehensive Senior Secondary School for this partnership, and we look forward to more impactful collaborations in the future.

Today, the African Youth Entrepreneurship Academy (AYEA), in collaboration with the John Pickering Comprehensive Senior Secondary School Business Club, is conducting a day-long entrepreneurship training session.

This initiative is aimed at equipping students with practical entrepreneurship skills, financial literacy, and leadership competencies to prepare them for future business opportunities and self-reliance.

As part of the training, our Program Coordinator, Lamin Tamba, is currently facilitating a session on understanding general entrepreneurship, guiding students through key concepts and real-world applications.

Today, our team, led by our Executive Director, and accompanied by the Program Coordinator and Communication & Media Assistant, honored the invitation to attend the official launch of the National Research & Innovation Fund-NRIF The Gambia

The event, held under the theme “Awakening the Giants: A New Era of Disruptive Research and Innovation for National Transformation,” brought together Cabinet Ministers, Members of the National Assembly, development partners, representatives of the diplomatic corps, academia, researchers, innovators, students, private sector actors, and other key stakeholders.

This landmark initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening research, innovation, and national development in The Gambia.

AYEA expresses its strong interest and willingness to partner, collaborate, and actively contribute to the implementation of initiatives that promote research, innovation, and youth empowerment.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the National Research and Innovation Fund (NRIF) and the Ministry of Higher Education,Research Science and Technology for the invitation and for this remarkable milestone achievement.
