Promoting access to blood for those in need is a priority for Buse Foundation. There has been a sudden increase of maternal mortality in the Gambia. This is a concern for all of us as it is our mother's, sisters, wives and children that are losing their lives. The significant increase of this deaths has brought up so many unanswered questions but the biggest question we should ask ourselves is how
we can help to reduce these deaths. Buse Foundation established to help support vulnerable individuals and communities. We have come up with an initiative to promote access to safe blood especially for pregnant women. While the need for blood is universal, access to blood for those who need it is sadly not. Donating blood has benefits for your emotional and physical health. Free health screening and testing for HIV and Hepatitis B is an additional benefit of donating blood. The plan is to create a database of donors and organise quarterly blood donation drive. We would coordinate with most of the hospitals and clinics in the Greater Banjul area to respond to emergency blood requests. For a start, we are looking for volunteers to participate in this noble cause.
