Today, our Outreach Coordinator Mr. Alieu Bah joined the Paradise Foundation on the QTV Good Morning Show as part of the global 16 Days of Activism under the national theme: “Unite to End Digital Violence.”
On the program, he delivered a strong message on the growing threat of digital violence, highlighting its many forms, from cyberbullying and online harassment to impersonation, blackmail, non-consensual image sharing, and other abuses that continue to silence victims, especially women and young people.
Mr. Bah emphasized the deep emotional, social, and psychological impact that digital violence can have on individuals, families, and communities. He reminded the nation that online harm is real harm and protecting people in the digital space is now a national responsibility.
He also outlined the existing legal protections in The Gambia and stressed the urgent need for stronger legal frameworks, including comprehensive data-protection and cybercrime laws that can fully address emerging online threats.
As civil society, the Gambia Cyber Security Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners, communities, and government institutions to create more awareness, build digital literacy, support victims, and advocate for safer online spaces for all.
Together, we must unite to end digital violence. The internet should be a tool for empowerment and not a weapon of abuse.
