Yes, education in The Gambia is improving, with progress seen in increased access and enrollment, especially for girls. However, challenges remain in the quality of learning, with poor foundational literacy and numeracy skills, high repetition and dropout rates, and disparities between rural and urban areas. Significant government and international efforts are underway to address these issues through new projects and policy reforms. Government commitment has to be based on pledged to invest in foundational literacy, numeracy, and skills development, as outlined in its National Development Plan.
