Today was truly meaningful for us at the International Voluntary Mental Health Organization (IVMHO) as we facilitated a session at the Civil Society University, organized by the Civil Service Students’ Union, under the theme *Enhancing Capacity for Student Well-Being and Academic Success*.

We are sincerely grateful to the Ministry of Gender for trusting us with this opportunity. Being in that space with the students listening, sharing, and learning together was inspiring. Their openness and active participation made the session not just impactful, but real and heartfelt.

A big thank you to our amazing volunteers whose dedication made everything run smoothly. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

Together, we are creating safe spaces, breaking the stigma, and touching lives in ways that truly matter—one conversation at a time.

A presentation session was held by IVMHO focusing on mental health statistics and volunteerism. *Bas*, a volunteer from Go For Africa, delivered a presentation highlighting the statistical situation of mental health in The Gambia and the Netherlands. The presentation compared the prevalence of mental health conditions in both countries and discussed some of the most common mental health disorders affecting individuals, emphasizing the need for awareness, support systems, and improved services.

In addition, *Solomon Correa*, Founder and CEO of International Voluntary Mental Health Organization, delivered a presentation on volunteerism within the organization. He highlighted the importance of volunteering in supporting mental health initiatives and explained the benefits of voluntary service, including community impact, personal development, and the strengthening of support networks for people living with mental health conditions.

The session concluded with appreciation for all volunteers for their commitment and contribution to advancing mental health awareness and services.
Thanks to all volunteers

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a heartwarming story from our IVMHO volunteers and a nursing student from Go For Africa. They recently conducted a home visit to provide care, support, and encouragement to a family in need. It was such an inspiring experience to see how much of a difference they made in their lives. The family was so grateful for the help and it really warmed our hearts. If you're looking for a way to make a positive impact, this is definitely a great opportunity. Let's keep spreading kindness and love! 💖

Today, the International Voluntary Mental Health Organization (IVMHO–Gambia), our School Mental Health Awareness Program, successfully conducted a mental health awareness session at Future Generation Junior and Senior Secondary School.

We were honored to be joined by Bas Beune, a nurse at Florence Home Care and a volunteer with Go for Africa, whose contribution added great value to the session. The engagement with the students was impactful, inspiring open conversations on mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of seeking support.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the school administration for the warm welcome, the students for their active participation, and our dedicated team of volunteers whose commitment continues to drive our mission forward.

Together, we continue to break the stigma and promote mental health awareness among the future generation.

The International Voluntary Mental Health Organisation, in collaboration with Go For Africa Netherlands, conducted an official visit to Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital to explore strategic partnership opportunities.

The visit focused on initiating discussions toward the possible development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate the deployment of students from the Netherlands for structured internship placements at Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital each year. The proposed internship program aims to enhance cross-cultural clinical exposure, strengthen capacity building, and promote knowledge exchange in mental health and psychosocial support services.
