RAID-THE GAMBIA RAID The Gambia” what is it? RAID The Gambia is a registered national None Governmental Organisation ( NGO) established in the Gambia in 1993.

The acronyms “RAID” is from a French language that reads Réseau Africain d’Iformation –Actions sur Jes Drogues. This when translated into English means: African Network for Information and Action Against Drugs RAID -The Gambia is a sister organizations to similar organizations in Africa that speech French, Portuguese and English. RAID is a member to many regional and global networks/ bodies that fights against illicit drug and substances abuse

RAID-The Gambia, alongside other civil society organizations, was invited by the Narco-mag DLEAG Gambia to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World No Drug Day.

The event brought together representatives from security agencies, civil society organizations, drug-free clubs, students, the media, and the diplomatic and consular corps.

We commend DLEAG, under the leadership of Mr. Demba Ceesay, for its commendable efforts in both drug demand reduction and Supply Chain. The latest drug report indicates a significant decline in drug-related cases compared to 2023–2024.

We urge the Government of The Gambia to increase budgetary support for the Drug Law enforcement agency DLEAG to enhance surveillance, tracking, and tracing systems to effectively combat the illicit drug market.

Raid-The Gambia as a key stakeholder in the fight against illicit drug, will not relent on its advocacy efforts until we jointly declare Gambia a Drug Free County.
