Period stigma ends when we break the silence. 🔴

This week, UNICEF Gambia is launching , our local take on the global Red Dot Challenge, to count down to World Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May.

Every day this week, a member of our team will share a personal reflection on what period dignity means to them, starting today with Fatou Lette-Jallow.

As Fatou reminds us, period poverty is a silent epidemic holding girls back from reaching their full potential in school and in life. It is a public health and child rights issue that affects us all.

Want to join us? Here is how:

🔴 Draw a red dot on your palm

5️⃣4️⃣ articles. One promise: , every right. 🇬🇲

We often talk about right to education or health, but we rarely pause to think about children's rights like the "right to rest and play" or the "right to a nationality." In The Gambia, these matter just as much as protection from harm.

Which of these rights surprised you? Drop a comment below! 👇

In The , UNICEF continues to put this life-saving treatment in the hands of families who need it most. Together with the Government of The Gambia, we are ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

Today, Aja Tutti's daughter is a different child. She plays around the compound and eats with an appetite that once seemed unimaginable. See the video below.
