Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation Holds Quarterly Reflection Meeting for Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs)

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, a local Non Govermental Organization and working with ChildFund The Gambia, on Saturday 9 May, 2026 organized a day-long quarterly reflection meeting for the Community Child Protection Committees of Kombo North and South Districts, West Coast Region.

The meeting, which brought together participants from the various local Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs), in kombo North and South districts, was aimed at assessing the challenges and progress registered during the past three months, and including the formulated strategies for a more vibrant community child protection committees within the local communities.

The session has also witnessed the presentation of implemented activities, challenges and registered gains by the representatives of the districts CCPCs, while giving them the opportunity to formulate plans for a functional local child protection bodies.

Buba Jatta, representing the Federation’s Manager, urged participants to commit themselves in safeguarding and protecting the wellbeing of children against all forms of abuses in communities. He also reminded them of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation's unwavering support to ending Child abuse, while championing the growth and welfare of every child.

Kebba Bojang, Child Protection Specialist of ChildFund The Gambia, in a statement, advised the districts Community Child Protection Committees to work as a single community child protection body with a unify constitution that will harmonize its functions and strategic plans against child abuses within local the settlements.

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation Girls' Platform Elects New Executive Committee

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation supported Girl's Platform of Kombo North and South Districts, on Sunday 26 April, 2026 elected its new executive committee of a ceremony, held at theJambanjelly Community Association office in Kombo South District, West Coast Region.

The election of the newly executive committee conducted during the Platform's annual reflection meeting, was required following the date of expiration of the former executive body.

The election, which followed a day-long democratic process of voting by representatives of the 10 Community Associations within Kombo North and South District, also witnessed a short policy defense by the elected candidates into various executives positions before the election proper.

The event, which also witnessed the inclusion of 10 coopted members from each community associations including advisers, signified the already commitment of the girls' platform and Federation towards the welfare of young girls within the two districts and beyond.

Isatou Jobe, the newly elected president of the girls' platform, assured the meeting of her unflinching dedication towards the betterment of the platform, while highlighting opportunities that the platform can utilize for the promotion of its development agenda.

She also urged her fellow elected executive committee members, and including the general body to be steadfast towards the development aspirations of the platform, while assuring the Federation of her committee's readiness to build a strong and cordial relationship for the well-being of all girls within the two districts.

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation Presents D865,550 worth of Assorted Hygiene Materials to Six Hundred Children of 0-5 Years

Ding Ding Yiriwa Federation, a local Non Govermental Organization and working with ChildFund The Gambia, on Tuesday 21 April, 2026 made a presentation of D865,550 worth of assorted hygiene materials to six hundred children between the ages of 0-5 years in Kombo South and North District, West Coast Region.

The presented materials which included 1,200 packets of laundry soap, 600 pieces of bleach bottles and another 600 pieces of branded plastic laundry pans, are aimed at complimenting caregiver's efforts in meeting their family's hygienic needs, contribute to the prevention of poor hygiene related illness, improves school attendance, and personal esteem among children.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Gallo Demba Bah, ChildFund Partnership Specialist, who also doubles as representative of ChildFund The Gambia Country Director, expressed the cordial relationship between ChildFund and Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, describing it as a mutual partnership that seeks to contribute towards the welfare of children and their families.

He added that, the presented hygienic materials will not only support the health condition of sponsored children, but improve attendance and inculcate the spirit of personal hygiene among parents and children alike.

He further urged parents and caregivers to make sure materials provided are well utilize and maintain to serve its intended purpose.

Yusupha Bojang, representing the governor of West Coast Region, hailed Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation for complimenting government's efforts, saying as millions are spent yearly towards the health service delivery of citizens.

He added that, such materials will enable parents and caregivers to maintain a clean and safe environment, reduce the spread of diseases and safeguard the health and well-being of children and their families in general.

Mr. Alieu Mendy, Manager of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, in a statement, praised the cordial relationship that the Federation has enjoy with its partners over the years in the service of the vulnerable, deprived and excluded children in the country.

He said that, as the Federation focuses on the welfare of children and youth within the two districts, it's key life intervention stages which include Life Stage 1, Life Stage 2, and Life Stage 3 are crucial towards a holistic development of any productive person.

He further emphasized that the presented materials are not only meant to guarantee the health aspect of children and caregivers, but to also serve as strategy for improve school attendance among children.

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, ASBL Conducts Beach Cleaning Exercise, Coconut Seedlings Planting and Award of Football Jersey to Tanjeh Beach Football Club

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, a local Non Govermental Organization and Partnered with ChildFund The Gambia, on Saturday 18 April, 2026 conducted a day-long beach cleaning exercise, coconut seedlings planting and award of football jerseys to Tanjeh beach football club at Tanjeh beach site, in partnership with Association S'ant But Lucratif (ASBL), a Belgian Based organization at Bato-Kunku, Kombo South District.

The exercise, which brought together nearly hundred participants including staff of Ding-Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, ASBL of Bato-Kunku, youth-led organizations, representative of Tanjeh village development committee (VDC) , and members of the beach committee, was aimed at sensitizing participants at large against the indiscriminate waste dump at the country's biggest fish landing site, including the protection of aquatic sea animals against plastic pollution.

The event also witnessed the planting of coconut seedlings designed at mitigating the ongoing global climate threat on community livelihoods, while signaling the readiness of both organizations in a drive towards community resilience against climate change.

Mr. Alieu Mendy, Manager of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, in a statement during the exercise, urged communities to be steadfast in protection of their environment, adding that as indiscriminate waste dumping poses severe health risk to both human and aquatic life.

He also calls for a national and global concerted efforts against human activities that contribute to negative climate change effects, stating that as Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation is ready to partner with any interested organization to protect environmental degradation in any form that influences climate change effects on local communities.

Lamin Jammeh, Coordinator of Association S'ant But Lucratif (ASBL), also speaking, reminded the participants of multiple health risk associated with unregulated waste management practices, saying that as plastic pollution not only posed danger to aquatic life, but including livelihood threat to human beings as final consumers.

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, ASBL of Bato-kunku Signed MoU

Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, a local Non Govermental Organization and Partnered with ChildFund The Gambia, on Monday 13 April, 2026 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Association S'ant But Lucratif (ASBL), a Belgian based local NGO in Bato-kunku village, Kombo South District, West Coast Region.

The signing ceremony which took place at the Federation’s main office in Jambanjelly, Kombo South District, brought together officials of the organization, Senior Management of the Federation, ChildFund representative, representative from the regional education directorate, the village Alkali, staff of the Federation, and including members of the community.

The event, which aimed at building mutual and beneficial partnership between the two parties, is designed to provide a platform for genuine collaboration towards the development of children and their communities as a whole.

Babucarr Jammeh, ChildFund Sponsorship Specialist in a statement, urged both parties to work in the spirit of trust and service for the children and their communities, while emphasizing ChildFund's commitment to supporting the partnership that aimed at improving the welfare of communities and school going children in particular.

Omar Sanneh, the board chairperson of the Federation, thanked ASBL Association for partnering with the Federation, saying that as it signals the dedication of both parties in advancing the wellbeing of school children and its communities. He further revealed the unflinching support of the board in strengthening the MoU for the benefit of both parties.

Coordinator of ASBL Association of Bato-Kunku, Lamin Jammeh, also in a statement, thanked Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation for their steadfast effort in making the ceremony a success, adding that as the organization is fully committed to invest its resources towards positive outcome of the partnership.
