🌊 Mangrove Restoration – Albreda Riverbank.

As a separate activity during UTG Students’ Week ’26, Y4CA-GM partnered with UTG students and members of the Juffureh community for a practical mangrove restoration exercise along the riverbank.

Y4CA-GM supplied mangrove propagules from its restoration programme. When additional planting material was needed, the team collected three bags of propagules from the surrounding natural mangrove forest, enabling the planting exercise to proceed.

Students and community members worked together on the riverbank, gaining practical experience while contributing directly to the restoration of the mangrove ecosystem.

Two activities, one shared purpose: empowering young people and communities to take practical action for a greener and more resilient Gambia.

🌳 Community Greening – Albreda.

As part of UTG Students’ Week ’26, Y4CA-GM partnered with university students and the Juffureh community for a community greening activity.

Y4CA-GM provided quality fruit-tree seedlings propagated in our nursery, which were distributed to community members for planting around their homes.

The initiative promoted household tree growing while strengthening community participation in environmental conservation. Community members welcomed the opportunity to access quality planting materials and contribute to greening their surroundings.
