Tel: 0044 1296 615989 Child Aid Gambia is a small charity set up in 2011 by Katy Roberts and her father Chris and the support of our Gambian team of volunteers in Serrekunda. Our Christian identity underpins everything that we do. Motivated by our faith, everyone at Child Aid Gambia is committed to following the teaching and example of Jesus Christ in his identification with those who are poor, vu
lnerable or forgotten. In practical terms, this simply means that we want to make a positive difference to the children of the republic of the Gambia as an expression and sign of God’s unconditional love.We work predominantly with desperately poor children living in the bush of the western division of the Gambia and at Chessay Ma Jaw village on the North Bank in West Africa, those who in one way or another are unable to help themselves. We do this by collecting clothes books toys and equipment to send out to the Gambia where they are distributed to needy children, some of whom live in appalling conditions on a rubbish tip outside the capital city Banjul. We also sponsor children of school age as schooling in the Gambia is not compulsory and has to be paid for. All monies clothes, children’s books and equipment donated to the charity is used towards improving the lives of the Gambian children that we support, none is used for expenses and every person visiting the Gambia to do any work for “Child Aid Gambia” pays for their own way and is not subsidised by the charity in any way.
