A MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION FROM TEAM RESTORE CONFIDENCE

To the people of The Gambia, our football stakeholders, the delegates who participated in the election, and every supporter and sympathiser of Team Restore Confidence, we say “Jërëjëf”. Thank you.

To our leader Sadibou Kamaso, our executive team, members, volunteers, media, security, logistics, task force, and everyone who contributed in one way or another, your commitment throughout this journey will always be appreciated.

To the stakeholders who believed in us and gave us their votes, thank you for your trust. To those who chose otherwise, we respect your decision and the democratic process.

The journey was tough, but we are proud of what we built and what we stood for.

We may have lost the election, but we have not lost our passion, our hunger, or our belief in the vision we presented.

Our Manifesto, Starting XI, and plans for the development of Gambian football remain ideas we believe can make a difference.

TRC was never just about an election. It was about putting forward a different way of thinking about our football.

We leave this election with our heads held high, grateful for the experience, proud of our people, and committed to the values that brought us together.

Thank you, The Gambia. Thank you, football. Thank you, TRC family.

The election is over. The passion remains. 🇬🇲⚽💚

TEAM RESTORE CONFIDENCE
Renewed Vision. Commitment. Strategy.

“Today, I am bringing that exact same level of global standard, commitment, and transparency to the governance of our federation. The moment is here!.“

Our Regional Football Associations are housed in ill-equipped or dilapidated offices. Being the sub-governing bodies responsible for the country’s 3rdDivision Leagues and other lower competitions, we cannot expect RFA’s to deliver when the required resource materials are not made available to them.

In this video, Mr. Kamaso outlines how his leadership shall provide office spaces and necessary support to serve as secretariats to better cater to the needs of their members.

MEET YOUR 1st VP- Bakary Papa Gassama

Papa, as he is fondly called stands as one of The Gambia’s most distinguished sporting ambassadors and among the finest football referees Africa has ever produced. Through professionalism, discipline, integrity and unwavering commitment, he built a career that earned him global recognition while proudly flying the Gambian flag on football’s biggest stages.

Born on 10 February 1979, Gassama began his refereeing journey in 2003, officiating Nawettan competitions, women’s football and domestic league matches before steadily rising through the ranks. His consistency, sound judgment and exceptional fitness earned him the FIFA international referee badge in 2007, opening the door to elite international football.

His rise was remarkable. Gassama officiated at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he also served as the fourth official for the men’s football final between Brazil and Mexico. He went on to officiate at multiple Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, including the prestigious 2015 AFCON final between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, while also taking charge of numerous CAF Champions League fixtures and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In 2014, Bakary Papa Gassama made history as the first Gambian referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup when he took charge of the group-stage match between the Netherlands and Chile in Brazil. He was subsequently selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, becoming one of the few African referees to officiate at three consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments, a remarkable achievement that reflects FIFA’s unwavering confidence in his abilities.

His outstanding performances also earned him continental recognition. Gassama was named CAF African Referee of the Year three consecutive times, cementing his place among the greatest referees ever produced by the African continent. His calm authority, consistency in decision-making, exceptional fitness and ability to manage high-pressure matches made him one of the most respected and trusted officials in world football.

Throughout his illustrious career, Bakary Papa Gassama officiated some of the biggest matches in African and international football. His professionalism, impartiality and commitment to excellence have made him a role model for aspiring referees and a source of immense pride for The Gambia.

Beyond his achievements on the field, Gassama has become a symbol of excellence, proving that with dedication, discipline and hard work, Gambians can compete and excel at the highest level of world sport.

Today, after an extraordinary career that brought immense pride and international recognition to The Gambia, Bakary Papa Gassama remains committed to the development of football.
