Maa Foundation For Women MFW

Maa Foundation For Women MFW MFW, a beacon of hope & change 4 Gender empowerment to transcend boundaries of basic human rights. We are about them. Why Rural women and Youths?

MAA FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN
We are a non-profit and registered non-government organization working to end poverty through supporting and empowering rural women in the Gambia. Each day more and more women in our rural communities struggle to put food on the table, to keep themselves and their children safe and healthy, and to lift themselves up from poverty and lack of opportunities. The Maa foundatio

n for women envision a Gambia in which all rural women and girls have the opportunity to thrive in safe, just and healthy communities. WE CONNECT NEEDS, FUNDS AND SOLUTIONS
NEEDS
We evaluate the needs of rural women and youths who are living at the margins of success in our society. FUNDS
We seek out and bring together women who have the power to make a difference and organizations that offers proven or innovative solutions. SOLUTIONS
We raise money to fund those solutions and we develop rural womenโ€™s capacity to drive change at every level, both within and beyond. Poverty, violence and lack of health options or access affect rural women differently and sometimes disproportionately. We target that disparity because when you invest in rural women and youths you invest in a stronger, a more stable families and communities. You develop capable workers people who produce more, save more and spend more right now and even in the future. You raise a generation of healthier kids with brighter futures and you lower the cost of everything from public safety to social service health care. Invest in women and girls and you invest a society that works for everyone

Empowering women is one of the smartest investments we can make. Financial independence gives women choices. It enables women to spend more on their families, drive growth in their economies and inspire others in their communities. WHY WE EXIST
Womenโ€™s economic equality is non-negotiable but all over the world and even in the Gambia women earn less and are more likely to own small, informal businesses. They are less likely to access more and better opportunities and financial services. They are more likely to do unpaid work, this doesnโ€™t only limit their opportunities and livelihoods it means a large chunk of the popular is denied basic human right. Through entrepreneurship,
we help rural women take control of their lives and create a route towards financial independence. How we work
With our partners in developments, we empower rural women to start and grow successful businesses and to redefine the future for themselves and those around them. To make it happen we deliver business trainings, capacity building workshops, and monitoring and evaluation programs. We help women to connect, learn, and reach wider network of opportunities. We press for changes that break down the barriers that women and youths face and because women and youths everywhere face different challenges, we tailor our work to what rural women tell us matters most to them.

MAA Foundation for Women stands with immense pride and admiration as we celebrate one of our own, Agnes Gomez, on this remarkable achievement.

Agnes, a passionate advocate for women, girls, and the environment, as well as a powerful public speaker, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious West African Womenโ€™s Speakers Forum (WAWS) 2026. This recognition is not only a personal milestone, but a moment of national pride, as she carries the voice, resilience, and brilliance of The Gambia onto a respected regional stage in Ghana.

Emerging through a highly competitive national selection process, Agnes has demonstrated exceptional courage, clarity, and commitment to the causes she champions. Her journey reflects the very values we uphold at MAA Foundation for Womenโ€”leadership, empowerment, advocacy, and transformative impact.

As she prepares to stand among outstanding women leaders from across West Africa, we celebrate her dedication to using her voice as a tool for change. Her work in advancing conversations around social issues, youth empowerment, and environmental awareness is both inspiring and deeply needed.

It brings us great joy and honor to stand beside Agnes on this journey. At MAA Foundation for Women, we believe in showing up consistently demonstrating solidarity, ownership, and a deep commitment to supporting Gambian initiatives. We stand side by side with talents like Agnes, amplifying their voices and affirming the power, potential, and excellence that exists within our communities.

We remain steadfast in our mission in continuing the work, nurturing talent, and creating opportunities for young women to rise, lead, and be seen. Our support for Agnes reflects this unwavering commitment and our belief in the transformative power of investing in people.

We are incredibly proud of you, Agnes. You are representing The Gambia with grace, strength, and excellence. As you step onto this regional platform, know that you carry not only your dreams, but the hopes of many young women you continue to inspire.
