Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow Foundation

Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow Foundation Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, The First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia, created the Fatoumatta Bah Barrow (FaBB) foundation on May 1st, 2017.

Her Excellency the First Lady of The Republic of The Gambia, Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow founded FaBB Foundation on May 1st 2017. The foundation was set shortly after the inauguration of her husband His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of The Republic of The Gambia. marginalized rural women, girls and vulnerable children in The Gambia. When she became the first Lady of The Gambia she knew she finally had the platform to further her cause to help in a greater way all the disadvantaged groups she had faced as an ordinary citizen. She therefore set up FaBB with the zeal to collaborate with nonprofit organizations, institutions and donors to leverage financial resources and knowledge in pursuit of its Mission.

A powerful visual recap of a milestone event dedicated to advancing girls’ education and empowerment in The Gambia πŸ’–

The Educating Linda Program successfully marked the award of full scholarships to 40 high-performing schoolgirls, reinforcing a strong national commitment to supporting the girl child through education.

The event brought together key stakeholders, partners, educators, and community leaders, alongside parents and guardians who traveled from across the country β€” with approximately 30 beneficiaries from the provinces and 10 from the Kombos β€” reflecting a shared dedication to shaping a brighter future.

The program featured three engaging panel discussions, creating a platform to educate, inspire, and empower the girls on critical issues including education as a tool for empowerment, early marriage and teenage pregnancy, menstrual hygiene management, financial independence, self-confidence and leadership, gender-based violence awareness, social media responsibility, child labor, and mental well-being.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the distinguished panelists, including Her Excellency the First Lady Madam Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, the Honorable Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, CEO of FaBB Mrs. Betty Saine, Dr. Fatoumatta Jarjusey, Mrs. Fatou Saine Gaye, Mrs. Fatima Diallo (Think Mina), the Managing Director of Trust Bank, Mrs. Juldeh Ceesay, the Honorable Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, the Managing Director of AGIB Bank, and representatives from the Directorate of In-Service Training and Lifelong Learning .

We also acknowledge the presence and support of the Honorable Ministers of Education, Information, and Gender, whose continued leadership and commitment to youth empowerment remain invaluable.

This initiative is implemented by the Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow Foundation (FaBB) in collaboration with the Merck Foundation, with scholarships fully funded by the Merck Foundation, under the leadership of Her Excellency the First Lady and CEO Mrs. Betty Saine.
