The Banjul Youth Committee successfully held its Extraordinary Congress on the 9th May 2026 to fill the vacant position of Treasurer.

All youth organizations were invited to send representatives to participate in the Congress, though only a few organizations responded to the call.

Following the Congress proceedings, Mr. Ousman Jallow, a co-opted member of the Banjul Central Constituency Youth Committee, emerged as the new Treasurer unopposed.

Congratulations to him on this achievement, and we wish him success in serving the youths of Banjul with dedication and commitment.

Today, the Banjul Youth Committee proudly celebrates every hardworking young person out there.
Whether you are in a formal job, learning a skill, running a small business, doing daily hustles, or volunteering your time — your effort matters, and your work is valuable.

We recognize that while government efforts toward job creation are important, the current realities mean not every young person will find immediate employment. But that should not stop us.
Every honest hustle counts. Every skill matters. Every step forward is progress.

We therefore encourage all young people in Banjul and beyond:
1. Engage in meaningful work, no matter how small
2. Learn a skill and build your capacity
3. Stay committed, disciplined, and focused
4. Support one another and grow together
A productive youth means a stronger community and a better future for all.

The Banjul Youth Committee (BYC) is proudly taking part in the ongoing Residential Refresher Training for Safe Space and He4She Clubs Implementation organized by the National Youth Council under the SWEDD Project.

BYC is represented by two young men from Banjul, contributing to strengthening youth-led efforts on GBV prevention, SRHR, and life skills development.

📢 Today, the Banjul Youth Committee (BYC) proudly mobilized and took part in the signing of contract and inauguration of the Early Warning Hub, held at the National Youth Council (NYC) Hall.

This marks a major milestone for youth-led peacebuilding in Banjul Central, strengthening early warning systems and community resilience.

A special and proud moment for BYC as our own PRO, Hon. Modou Lamin Sawo, was officially signed as an Early Warning Ambassador — a double achievement that reflects dedication, leadership, and commitment to service.
