CSG at Journées Annuelles de Chemie du Senegal (JACS) Day 🇸🇳🇬🇲

The Chemical Society of The Gambia (CSG) is pleased to share that Mr. Balla Touray and Mr Musa Tabally, yesterday successfully represented The Gambia and the CSG at the JACS Day in Senegal.
It is on this occasion that Mr Balla Touray delivered his research poster presentation titled:

“Assessment of Acid Rain in The Gambia – A Case Study of Kanifing Municipal Council, The Gambia.”

The presentation was well received and marked an important moment of visibility for Gambian scientific research and the Society within the sub-regional scientific community.

We thank the Société Chemie du Senegal for the invitation and warm reception. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all members and well-wishers who supported this initiative in various ways. Your encouragement and contributions continue to strengthen the Society’s mission of promoting science, research, and regional collaboration.

CSG remains committed to advancing scientific excellence and representing The Gambia on reputable regional and international platforms.

🎉 *CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. ABDOULIE G. B. BALDEH 🎉*

The Chemical Society of The Gambia (CSG) proudly congratulates *Mr. Abdoulie G. B. Baldeh* on his outstanding achievement as a *Commonwealth Chemistry Poster Prize Winner 2025 at the 6th Commonwealth Chemistry Posters*, an initiative aligned with Building Network and addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

Out of over 250 abstracts submitted from 23 countries, Mr. Baldeh’s poster *“Production and characterization of biofilm from seaweed-extracted pectin reinforced with chitosan extracted from shrimps”* was selected as one of the winning entries this year. This recognition is a powerful testament to his scientific excellence, dedication, and innovative thinking.

This achievement is especially remarkable considering the realities of limited research funding and ill-equipped laboratory facilities in the Gambia. It demonstrates that impactful, globally competitive research can emerge from determination, creativity, and scientific rigor, regardless of constraints.

Mr. Baldeh’s success not only brings pride to him and his co-authors, but also elevates the profile of CSG and The Gambia on the international scientific stage. He serves as an inspiration to young scientists and a clear reminder that excellence is possible even in challenging environments.

Once again, CSG congratulates Mr. Baldeh on this well-deserved honor and wishes him continued success in his scientific journey.
