With support from UNFPA The Gambia Cooperació. Generalitat de Catalunya through ChildFund The Gambia, we have successfully completed a six-day capacity-building session for Village Support Groups (VSGs) in Central River Region North and South.

The training strengthened VSGs’ knowledge of the harmful effects of FGM and equipped them with practical skills to lead community initiatives. As trusted community front-liners, they will now engage residents through meetings and focus group discussions to promote FGM-free communities.

Together, we’re building a future where FGM is a thing of the past.

On this International Day of the Girl Child, stands with every girl’s right to grow, learn, and choose her own future.

Child marriage is a violation of girls’ rights. It can disrupt education, threaten health and safety, and limit opportunities for a lifetime. No girl should have to trade her childhood for a marriage she did not choose.

Ending child marriage means investing in girls: keeping them in school, protecting their health and rights, listening to their voices, and supporting families and communities to create safer, brighter futures.

When girls thrive, families and communities thrive too.

This week, with support from UNFPA The Gambia through Childfund the Gambia, we have kicked off the capacity-building training for Village Support Groups (VSGs) in the Central River Region(North and South), focused on gender-based violence (GBV), child marriage and female ge***al mutilation (FGM).

The training brings together VSG members to strengthen community-led advocacy and prevention efforts.

As trusted members of their communities, VSGs are well placed to raise awareness, encourage dialogue and help connect people with support and services. By building local knowledge and strengthening collaboration, this initiative aims to support safer, more informed communities and advance the rights and wellbeing of women and girls.

Women4health Gambia joined the global community in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism against Gender- Based Violence under the theme, “UNITE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls."

Supported by Asperpol Ongd, young people from different backgrounds came together in a safe space to speak on the theme and to raise awareness about gender-based violence and open dialogue on digital violence.

During the safe space they expressed powerful voices, promoted solidarity, and contributed to the fight against violence targeting women and girls in all spaces, including digital platforms. The activity was both engaging and empowering, combining education and activism.
