Dear Members, Sponsors, Beneficiaries,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Another year is drawing to a close. Unfortunately, the year 2022 was not a good one for most people. In addition to the world’s suffering, there has been Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, refugees from Ukraine, Africa and Middle East, natural disasters near and far with, sadly, many people losing their lives and relatives, or living in insecurity because of persecution, hunger, lack of freedom or health. Generations of children and adults are affected by post-traumatic stress disorder.
In the face of looming threats of death and destruction at our doorstep, we must not forget the African continent. Even if it appears that Africa has reached a level of development that is good, this does not mean the countries are able to take care of themselves and their citizens.
Statistics are only as good as the viewer interprets them, if you experience the hardship and the reality on the ground as our members and beneficiaries do, the reports can be seen to be only partially correct and often very one-sided.
On the subject of the war in Ukraine, we have received your requests: "When will we do something for Ukraine", "Help Ukraine" and we take them very seriously. We have referred some of our active volunteer members to other organizations which provide direct help.
As a result, we have come under both personal and financial pressure, since the large alliances of aid organizations do not work together with smaller organizations or operate through different structures and work processes.
Pledged donations for projects in Africa have not been paid or have been reduced.
Through our work as Europeans in West Africa, we make a significant contribution to maintaining solidarity with African countries and Ukraine, and the western democratic world, reducing suffering, reducing risky immigration to Europe, and improving the quality of life of people in Africa.
Through this approach, the Western states and their relief organizations also positively contribute to the countries they provide relief and development to. These countries are more likely to align themselves with the West and represent our common values of human rights in the UN Security Council and condemn countries like Russia, Iran, and others, they hopefully refrain from accepting economic support and development aid from such countries or harbour the perpetrators.
To be able to continue these services in the coming year, we need your support. With a personal or corporate donation, you can help us to continue our activities in West Africa. https://buy.stripe.com/14kbKN31o9Woa1qbIY
We wish you and your family, near and far, especially our members in mission countries, a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous, happy 2023.
