THE OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF GRACE ORPHANAGE FOUNDATION
On the 4th February 2022, Grace Orphanage Foundation was officially launched at Kunkujang Jaitaya West Coast Region of The Gambia.
The ceremony started at about 4:00 pm with a novelty football match between Kunkujang Jattaya senior and junior teams from the region, in support and solidarity for the vision and mission of the foundation.
The village Alkalo; Sanneh Jatta, the Imam; Momodou lamin Beyai, the women's leader; Therese Prierra and the youths of the community came out in their numbers.
After the football match, which ended in a goalless draw, everyone that were present including the village Alkalo and Imam proceeded to the proposed site for the Orphanage.
The imam led the prayer according to the Muslim faith while one of the youth in the community, a Christian led the pray in the Christian faith.
The Alkalo, the community leaders, the women and the youths all expressed their joy and pledged their support to foundation.
The Alkalo led the foundation laying followed by the imam and Mr. Michael Tundeh Williams the president of Grace Orphanage Foundation.
Mr. Michael in his speech commended the people of Kunkujang Jaitaya community for the love and warm welcome they accorded him when he first came to the community. He therefore pledged to reciprocate this gesture by using the little with which God has blessed him, to bring development and humanitarian support to Orphans, the less privileged, widows and single mothers in the community.
He ended his speech by calling on every member of the community to take the project as their own in order for everyone to benefit from it.
The women in the community came together to prepare the dinner and everyone present had dinner after the foundation laying ceremony.
The ceremony came to a close at about 7:45pm.
