ECOCIG (ECOWAS Citizens in The Gambia) was established on the 19th June, 2019 at the Nigerian High Commission with the support of ECOWAS Permanent Mission in the Gambia, ECOWAS Ambassadors Solidarity Forum in The Gambia (EASOFIG) and the Gambia Government.
It works primarily with citizens of the fifteen state bodies settled in The Gambia with a view to promoting stronger solidarity links, implementing the 2020 Agenda, while empowering the youth. With an active population of 300 million today, ECOWAS places great emphasis on youth employment, skills development, and Heath.
From recent statistics, ECOCIG has presented a vibrant youth population which needs guidance, support and training in the post pandemic as indicated by the following citizens of these individual countries:
Nigeria 40,000, Guinea 65,000, Sierra Leone 37,000, Mali 63,000, Ghana 31,000,
