*Updates on the first Lady courtesy call meeting.*

The Chairman and Auditor General of the Network Against Irregular Migration (NETAIM) held a key discussion with the Office of the First Lady of The Gambia to explore potential partnerships and support for the organization’s initiatives.

Meeting Highlights:

*Introduction of NETAIM's Mission:* The Chairman provided an overview of NETAIM's efforts to combat irregular migration, emphasizing the need to create awareness, provide support to returnees, and implement preventive measures within communities.

*Challenges in Resource Mobilization:* The discussion highlighted the challenges NETAIM faces in securing consistent funding for its activities. The First Lady acknowledged these concerns and shared potential solutions to improve the organization’s financial standing.

*Registration with National Youth Council (NYC):* The First Lady recommended that NETAIM formalize its registration with the National Youth Council (NYC) to unlock further opportunities for collaboration and government support. She expressed her willingness to connect NETAIM with relevant authorities, including the Minister of Youth and Sports, for further engagements.

*Engagement with Private Sector:* The First Lady encouraged the organization to draft a comprehensive proposal targeting GSM companies such as Africell, outlining potential areas of collaboration. These companies could provide financial or in-kind sponsorship to support NETAIM's projects.

*Target Audience and Outreach Strategy:* It was recommended that NETAIM focus its educational campaigns on high schools, youth groups, and parents. The First Lady stressed the importance of engaging these key demographics to enhance the impact of NETAIM’s preventive programs.

This meeting marked a crucial step in NETAIM’s journey to strengthen its operations and secure partnerships. We are hopeful about the positive developments that will follow from this engagement and will continue to pursue the guidance provided.

The Network Against Irregular Migration (NETAIM) held a highly productive meeting with the Gambia Immigration Department. The session began with an introduction of the executive members from both organizations.

During the meeting, various areas for potential collaboration and partnership were thoroughly discussed. The Immigration Department assured us that, once the meeting receives final approval, there will be concrete feasibility plans developed to work together towards reducing and eventually ending irregular migration in The Gambia.

A significant part of the discussion focused on the underlying factors driving young people towards irregular migration. The Immigration Department highlighted the lack of hope and opportunities within the country as primary reasons for this trend. They also requested that we share our activity plans with them to better align our efforts.

Moreover, the Immigration Department emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in conducting more nationwide awareness tours and similar initiatives. They shared the challenges they face within their department and stressed the need for joint training sessions to enhance the capabilities of both organizations.

It was noted that the final decision on these matters rests with the Director of the Immigration Department. They assured us that they would communicate any updates promptly once they receive direction from the Director.

In summary, the meeting underscored the importance of a united approach in addressing irregular migration, highlighting the need for shared resources, joint training, and comprehensive awareness campaigns. We look forward to receiving further updates and moving forward with our collaborative plans.

Thank you all
