This remark from Yankuba Darboe clearly demonstrates the political immaturity in UDP. Yankuba is only lucky to be a chairman because UDP would use any thug or radical in any position. It is good though he did not attribute the "Konobas" to Drinking Alcohol! He needs to look back.

NPP Celebrates Resounding By-Election Victories in Kaiaf and Bantanjang, Reaffirming National Confidence in President Adama Barrow’s Leadership*

The National People’s Party (NPP), under the visionary leadership of its Secretary General and Party Leader, His Excellency President Adama Barrow, warmly hails the resounding victory recorded in the recent by-elections in Kaiaf Ward, Kiang East Constituency, and Bantanjang Ward, Foni Bondali Constituency.

We express our profound gratitude and appreciation to the people of these wards for the overwhelming trust and confidence they have reposed in our great party. This renewed mandate is a clear confirmation of the NPP’s resolve and strong commitment to inclusive development and service delivery across all communities and regions of The Gambia.

The Party extends its warmest congratulations to Councillor-elect Omar Touray of Kaiaf Ward and Councillor-elect Abdoulie Badjie of Bantanjang Ward on their well-deserved victories, and wishes them every success as they assume their respective seats in service to their communities and the nation at large.

The NPP also extends its appreciation to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the United Democratic Party (UDP), and the two independent candidates for their participation, professionalism, and the peaceful conduct demonstrated throughout the campaign and post-election periods. This conduct stands as a further testament to The Gambia’s growing democratic maturity, political pluralism, and commitment to peaceful electoral processes.

Commenting on the outcome, His Excellency President Adama Barrow described the results as a referendum on leadership and national direction. “It is a referendum for us and the opposition. This is history repeating itself. There was a referendum in the by-elections in Niamina and Jokadou, where we won both seats. The same trend is repeating, so we are very confident heading into 2026. I believe we will achieve similar or even greater success,” the President stated.

These results reaffirm our collective vision to transform The Gambia into a modern city-state, one that guarantees universal access to electricity, clean water, quality healthcare, education, agricultural advancement, robust road networks, and reliable communication systems.

The outcomes of these by-elections are not only excellent but also represent a significant stride toward securing an absolute majority in the December 5th, 2026 Presidential Election. His Excellency President Adama Barrow extends his heartfelt thanks to the people of Bantanjang and Kaiaf for acknowledging and supporting his leadership and development trajectory.

The NPP, alongside political analysts and observers, views these results as a strong indication of the Gambian people’s willingness and determination to re-elect President Adama Barrow in December 2026.

While we celebrate this remarkable victory, we urge all party members, supporters, and alliance partners to remain resolute, united, and committed to galvanizing even broader support as we continue our journey of national transformation.

False Information Alert ‼️

It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Information that a video is being circulated on social media by the UDP online media, claiming that hospitals in The Gambia are under-equipped, lack resources, and are unable to provide required facilities for patients. We would like to clarify that this video is outdated, originating from 2021, and does not accurately represent the current state of our healthcare system.

Since 2021, the Government of The Gambia has made significant strides in addressing the issues highlighted in the video. The Ministry of Health has implemented numerous reforms and invested in upgrading facilities, procuring modern medical equipment, and ensuring that our hospitals are well-resourced to provide quality healthcare to all citizens.

We urge the public to be wary of misinformation campaigns aimed at discrediting the progress we have made.

The Ministry of Information is committed to providing accurate and up-to-date information to the public.

Hon. Yaya Menteng Sanyang the LatriKunda Sabiji was put to order today by the speaker of the National Assembly Rtd Honorable Fabakary Tombong Jatta for once again flouting the parliamentary rules and procedures during the question and answer session with minister.

"Hon. Minister, this is not your first time here, you were here; Honorable Minister is it that you are not comfortable at your new ministerial position ?" Hon. Menteng ask this supplementary question in relation to a substantial question (Hon. Speaker could the Honorable minister of Tourism and Culture update this august assembly about the Mungo Park Project that commenced in Sami Karantaba ?)earlier asked by the Hon. Member of Sami to the Minister of Tourism and Culture Hon. Abdou Jobe.

Hon. Menteng's question sparked waves of laughters from both sides of the house. Amidst the laughters members can be heard saying "Yaya woo Yaya" meaning he has done it again.

In the Hon. Speaker's ruling he reminded Hon. Menteng once again that Parliament is a house governed by rules and regulations and his question cannot be admitted as it contravenes section 43 (4) of the standing orders which states that "A supplementary question cannot add new matters which were not in the substantial question asked and not carried in the answers provided". He told Hon. Yaya that "You know you are out of order because your question is neither reflected in the original question nor is it reflective of the answers provided by the minister".

A member of his constituency LatriKunda Sabiji could not bear the embarrassment and could be heard saying " Ntoolu Mang Boooh", in mandinka meaning "We are unlucky".

Since 1996, UDP has consistently demonstrated their selfish and divisive attitudes towards Gambians.

Tribal cards, politics of bigotry and intimidation of opponents has been their survival tactics since inception.

The Gambian people has never faulted in rejecting them at successive polls. A progressive mind would have thought that the party would have looked inwards; become inclusive and put Gambia FIRST.

But that would be a fallacy, an unsound reasoning that does not resonate with the founding principles of UDP and that beliefs only on "NYO FASA" against the priorities of The Gambian people.

To further exacerbate their hatred towards Gambians, the UDP has resolved to the marginalisation of Gambian women. Depriviving them of all the necessary protections and safeguards they are entitled to. This compounded with their latest tactic of religious politics demonstrates the corroded ill intentions of this cult.

Reject UDP should constitutional provision; a national maxim all Gambians should be committed to towards the common good of our dear country.
