The ASFL Leadership Forum & Human Rights Seminar concluded on a historic and symbolic note with the planting of the first-ever Liberty Tree in The Gambia by Students For Liberty Gambia, held at the President’s International Award (PIA) premises.

This meaningful act represents our shared commitment to promoting the values of freedom, leadership, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment across the country.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Kebba Sanneh for bringing this powerful idea to life and helping us plant not just a tree, but a lasting symbol of liberty, growth, and hope for future generations. 🌱

🕊️ Monday Reflection: Protecting Liberty, Protecting Life

We are deeply heartbroken by the tragic death of a one-month-old baby girl due to female ge***al mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia. 💔

FGM is banned in our country, yet it continues in secrecy, robbing girls of their health, dignity, and too often their lives.

This is not just a violation of human rights; it is an attack on liberty itself.

At Students For Liberty Gambia, we believe that freedom also means protection from harmful practices that deny individuals their right to live fully and safely. Every girl deserves the chance to grow, to dream, and to thrive without fear of violence.

We call for justice, stronger enforcement of the law, and greater education to end FGM once and for all. The future of The Gambia depends on safeguarding the lives and liberties of our youth.

✊🏽 Let this tragedy be a turning point. Together, let’s say NO to FGM and YES to liberty for all.

Monday Motivation: Youth in Action for Liberty

“Our country’s hope for prosperity depends on youth empowerment.” Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth & Sports

Poised at the heart of this statement is our belief at Students For Liberty Gambia: when youth lead with liberty, peace, and self-expression, real change follows.

This week, we echo that energy. We’re building:

Strong leadership networks through our Local Coordinator team
Community outreach programs focused on liberty education
Impact-driven initiatives like our Liberty Livelihood Lab

Let us carry this momentum forward together. A freer, more prosperous Gambia starts with empowered youth.
