🪘🪘MALI'S DEFENSE MINISTER SADIO CAMARA KILLED IN COORDINATED ATTACK🪘🪘

A wave of violence swept across Mali yesterday, April 25th, 2026, as armed groups launched coordinated attacks on multiple locations, including the capital Bamako, Kati, Gao, and Sévaré. The attacks, claimed by the al-Qaeda-linked Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), have left several dead and many more injured.

Defense Minister Sadio Camara was among those targeted, with his residence in Kati coming under attack. While initial reports indicated he was safe, he has later been confirmed to be killed. President Assimi Goita has been confirmed to be safe and in a secure location.

The attacks are part of a larger offensive by JNIM and FLA, with the groups claiming control of Kidal and parts of Gao. The Malian military has confirmed clashes with terrorist groups in the capital and other parts of the country, stating that the situation is under control.

🪘🪘PAKISTAN CONVENES US - IRAN PEACE TALKS 🪘🪘

Pakistan's President has convened a reconciliation meeting for the US and Iran, aiming to ease tensions between the two nations. The meeting, taking place today April 11th in Islamabad, involves high-level delegations from both countries, with US Vice President JD Vance leading the American team and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf heading the Iranian delegation.

The talks, mediated by Pakistan, focus on stabilizing the ceasefire and negotiating a potential resolution to the conflict. Key issues on the agenda include Iran's 10-point proposal over control of the Strait of Hormuz, withdrawal of US combat forces from the Middle East and the situation in Lebanon. The Americans are also demanding Iran's surrender of their enriched uranium stockpile and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Pakistan's role as a mediator is significant, given its relationships with both the US and Iran. The country's efforts have been supported by regional partners, including China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

The outcome of the talks is uncertain, but analysts suggest that even a modest agreement to continue dialogue would be a positive step.

🪘🪘 SENEGAL PROPOSES HARSHER PENALTIES FOR SAME S*X RELATIONS 🪘🪘

Senegal’s government has proposed a new law that would significantly increase prison terms for individuals found guilty of same-sex relations. The bill which was proposed by the country’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and has been approved by the cabinet, would double the maximum prison sentence from 5 to 10 years and impose fines of up to 10 million CFA francs ($18,000; £13,000).

The bill to double the maximum prison term for same-sex relations from 5 to 10 years has been sent to Senegal’s National Assembly where the Prime Minister’s Pastef party controls the majority, but no date has yet been set for the voting.

The proposed law is part of a broader crackdown on LGBT rights in Senegal, where same-sex relationships are already illegal.

The move is part of a regional trend, with several African countries tightening anti-LGBT laws. Uganda, for example, has some of the world’s harshest anti-homosexuality laws, including the death penalty for certain same-sex acts. Other countries, like Burkina Faso and Mali, have introduced similar sanctions against the LGBTQ community.
