Gratitude feels different when it’s shared across continents. 🍂🦃

This year, we’re thankful for the students, educators, and community partners in Wli who welcome our teams with openness, curiosity, and generosity. Every workshop, every project, every conversation is built on mutual learning. That’s what makes Sage special.

From menstrual health workshops to clean water access projects to games that strengthen teamwork and communication, our students grow because they learn with others, not just about others.

If you’re looking for a program that values true partnership and real-world learning, we’d love to connect.

At Sage, leadership grows through real practice, not theory.

Across our programs in Wli, students step into the role of teacher, mentor, and collaborator:

🌱 leading lessons on health, science, and creative problem-solving
🌱 guiding younger learners through hands-on activities
🌱facilitating discussions with peers and adults in the community

These moments capture what Sage is built on: equal partnership, confident communication, and young people learning to lead across ages and cultures.

When students teach, they don’t just share knowledge; they strengthen their own voice, empathy, and sense of responsibility. That’s leadership development in action.

Follow along to see how Sage students continue turning learning into impact.

When ingenuity meets tradition. 🧵

Sage students dive into the intricate craft of basket weaving under the guidance of local artisans at Wli. Beyond creating beautiful objects, these workshops reveal centuries of knowledge passed through generations.

The careful attention to material selection, structural integrity, and functional design mirrors the thoughtful approach our students bring to their community projects.

Hands-on cultural experiences like these build the cross-cultural competency that defines true global leaders – learning through doing, respecting traditional wisdom, and discovering new perspectives in unexpected places.

Morning views at the Sage Centre. 🌿☀️

Here, surrounded by the mountains of Wli, students find space to reflect, connect, and grow. It’s more than a campus—it’s a home for leadership, creativity, and global collaboration.

Sometimes the path to growth starts with a walk through nature. 🌍✨

The sound of drums. The joy of shared movement. 🥁✨

At Sage, cultural exchange isn’t staged—it’s lived. Students are welcomed into Ghanaian traditions with care, laughter, and community spirit. These moments of music and dance create lasting memories while reminding us that growth comes not only from projects, but also from genuine connection.

🌍 Safe, structured, and full of heart…that’s the Sage experience.

Some say leadership is about vision, resilience, and collaboration. Others say…it’s about not losing at chess to your new teammates. 😉

At Sage, we’ll take both.

At Sage, we see sports as more than a game. They’re a way to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience - the same qualities that fuel leadership far beyond the field.

Whether through volleyball, design challenges, or community projects, our students discover what it means to lead with strength and vision.

✨ Leadership is practiced. Growth is earned. Impact is shared.

For a previous project, Sage students partnered with the Wli community to reimagine how visitors connect with the tallest waterfall in West Africa. Their mission: apply design thinking to boost tourism and create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Through interviews and observation, the team uncovered a gap: while Wli had stunning natural beauty, it lacked the kind of clear, engaging signage and curated experiences that help visitors explore more, stay longer, and spend locally.

Working alongside community members, they redesigned the tourist centre layout, installed attractive and informative signage, and sparked conversations with local guides and vendors about “experience design” — the idea that every touchpoint, from the first welcome to the final photo, can be shaped to create value for both visitors and the community.

For Wli, these upgrades were more than cosmetic. They were an investment in storytelling, place-making, and the skills to keep improving long after the summer ended.

And this summer, a new Sage team visited the centre, proof that the upgrades are still welcoming travelers and supporting the community.

During a hands-on basket weaving workshop at the Sage Summer Leadership Program, students learned from local artisans, practicing patience, precision, and creativity.

Beyond the skill itself, each weave was a lesson in cultural heritage — connecting students to traditions that have been passed down for generations in Ghana. Moments like these remind us that leadership isn’t just about big decisions; it’s also about listening, learning, and honoring the wisdom of others.

At the Sage Centre, every table is a meeting place — for ideas, cultures, and friendships. Students from Ghana and around the world gather here to share meals, swap stories, and plan projects that create real change.

It’s in moments like these, surrounded by teammates, learning from each other, that global collaboration becomes more than a concept. It becomes the start of something lasting.

Some of the best conversations don’t happen in a classroom.

On the trail to Wli Waterfalls, students have time to reflect, laugh, and learn from each other. It’s not just a scenic hike. It’s a space where friendships cross cultures, and confidence builds with every step.

Leadership at Sage isn’t all workshops and whiteboards. Sometimes it starts with a backpack, a walking stick, and a new friend beside you.

Explore beyond your comfort zone.
