Challenging Heights is an NGO in Ghana founded by child trafficking survivor James Kofi Annan, dedicated to ending child trafficking and economic exploitation through rescue, long-term support, and prevention.

Since 2023, 18 of the young people we support have earned their university degrees. Last week, they returned to our office for a heart-to-heart with our Executive Director. 🎓💙

Challenging Heights supported them through school, now we're walking with them into what comes next: jobs, further studies and dreams of their own.

Imagine the joy of going home, reuniting with family and returning to school. ❤️🎒

For 35 survivors, that moment is here. After comprehensive recovery, they are returning to their families, each carrying school supplies, food items and support for their caregivers.

Rescue brought them to safety. Now, a new chapter begins.
This time, with the chance to learn, dream and build a different future. ✨

For most of the children we rescue from Lake Volta, school begins here.

Many arrive having never held a book or learned to read or write. At our Recovery Centre, they meet the classroom for the first time.

Then come the little victories. Learning letters. Writing their names. Reading their first words. Slowly discovering that they can learn.

And every time we see them sitting with a book, growing more confident in their studies, we are reminded of just how far they have come. 💙📚

Last month, we graduated 11 young women from our Fashion Design and Cosmetology training programmes at the Mother and Child Recovery Centre. 🎓💙

Nine graduated in Fashion Design and two in Cosmetology, showcasing beautiful costumes, makeup, hairstyles and other final projects they created themselves.

Skills acquired. Livelihoods gained. We’re so proud of how far they’ve come. ❤️
