ISHEW GHANA, an NGO registered in Ghana, supports the people and environments of local communities through a variety of assistance programs focused on health, education, water, and economic sustainability. In working towards these ends, ISHEW GHANA engages the skills and expertise of local and international volunteers from all professional backgrounds to achieve community goals. H

Your involvement in ISHEW will focus on issues of health, education, water and economic sustainability. Based on your personal skills and passion, ISHEW will work to connect you with an opportunity to work with members of a local community towards sustainable development. Whether you are pursuing medical training or you are practicing this profession, you will lend a precious hand to the village’s and town’s health centers. This is a real opportunity to give assistance to people who are threatened by precarious living conditions and for whom primary health care is often an unaffordable luxury. Through this mission you will have the opportunity to observe and understand the reality of public health in Winneba Ghana. This mission will not only introduce you to issues of personal and public health, but will also provide you with an understanding of the local environment. This will be an experience that gives new meaning to your profession or vocation. EDUCATION MISSIONS
Access to quality education is perpetual problem in Ghana, related to a lack or non-existence of financial and material means to support education. Your mission can take several forms based on academic support: helping children read and write after school or engaging with groups of students in promotion of the children’s self-development. Alternatively, you can focus your mission on providing and distributing teaching and learning materials (TLM) to various schools in the area. WATER MISSIONS
Water is the most essential part of our daily lives, but many people in Ghana do not have access to portable drinking water. Depending on the needs of the local populations, your mission may include: installing modern and innovative water filters, sampling and testing water quality, or developing sustainable water systems and wells. ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY MISSIONS
Every mission we undertake together must respond to the needs of the local community through the provision of long-term sustainable solutions. We therefore propose missions of consultation and data collection that identifies potential long-term economic development projects. Based on the assets of the local community, these projects may involve agriculture, handicrafts, or eco-tourism. PERSONALIZED MISSIONS
ISHEW does not offer you a standardized mission straight out of catalogue. You are encouraged to develop your mission based on your passions, expectations, and previous experiences. If you are unsure of what skills you may have to offer, you may engage in a general humanitarian that allows you work with local partners while you acquire or strengthen your experience in a specific field. This original approach allows you to develop a reciprocal relationship with members of a local community, as you work together to address community needs.
