YOU CAN BECOME GREAT DESPITE ALL ODDS

Today, YORI -Youth Rise International encourages our youth population to never give up on their quest to pursue greatness. Please don't lose hope and never give up. Life is and has never been a straightline equation. There will be mountains, hills, valleys, twists and turns.

But here is the good news: you can still rise above them and become great. You can still succeed and become extraordinary in the face challenges.

Here is the secret: be humble enough to learn from those ahead of you. Allow yourself to be taught and mentored. Get yourself a mentor and give yourself to close mentoring. This is critical because what makes people great has little to do with formal education, games and gimmicks but more to do with life-coaching, experiential learning, exposure and recommendations.

Let me ask you: Do you have a mentor who is coaching you? Is there any great person you are following and learning from? Who do you look up to for inspiration, ideas and guidance? Your honest answers to these questions reflect your genuine efforts to becoming great.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM

YORI -Youth Rise International is a grassrooots youth empowerment and social justice organization that focuses on mobilizing vulnerable youth and rural communities to fight extreme poverty, health disparities and climate change.

At the heart of our successes and impacts has been leveraging on in-kind contribution through volunteerism and community contributions. We are excited to share that several rural people and the youth over the years have generously volunteered their time, energy, ideas and expertise to support our work.

For instance, if you have ever been in our community events, you will see several youth and women and men who help with community organizing, mobilization, registration, mounting of canopies, arranging of chairs and tables among others. These are all unpaid volunteers and community members generously supporting our work and the development their own communities.

These acts of kindness and affection have significantly contributed to our cost reduction strategy, innovatively navigating through the resources constraints that linger in the philanthropy and international development spaces and sustainability of our results.

On this day, would like to say thanks to all the wonderful youth, women and men and community leaders who have in diverse ways volunteered and contributed in-kind to make the important work we do possible. Together we can end poverty, eliminate health disparities and mitigate the impacts of climate change in our underserved communities.

YOUR HEALTH MATTERS TO US!

YORI -Youth Rise International joins Ghana Health Service to promote a healthy living and healthy lifestyle. This initiative combines the power of health promotion (awareness and social and behavior change campaigns) and primary healthcare through free health screening and support for vulnerable and high risk populations.

At the heart of this health initiative is proving post-medical test counseling and emotional and psychosocial support. Participants with health emergency situations are usually referred to the appropriate health facility for further care and assistance. The feedback from this initiative is heartwarming including healthy families,. children stable in school due to improved health and costs savings due to not spending money on medical bills.

Dear ardent follower, fan and cheerleader of please pay attention to your health. Why? Well, once your health fails everything around you begin to fail and fall apart including your hard earned money, family, business, career, and friends.

That is the more reason you should pay critical attention to your health and safety.

AFTER BECE WHAT NEXT?: PRACTICAL INSIGHTS FOR GRADUANDS

YORI -Youth Rise International congratulates all the students who completed their BECE last week Friday. We pray that you come out with flying colours and head towards senior high and technical and vocational levels. However, as a youth empowerment organization, we would like to offer key practical relevant wisdoms for the graduands and parents to take advantage of within the next few months as they wait for the BECE results.

1. GAIN COMPUTER LITERACY
encourages parents to, as a matter of priority, enroll their children into basic practical computer training. This is key in preparing them for the next academic phase and also to help them acquire IT skills which can open career opportunities for them in the near future.

2. SUPPORT FAMILY BUSINESS OR SHORT-TERM WORK
encourages parents who have family businesses, guide or coach their children to support them. However, the work to be done by the child should be age appropriate and must not constitute child labour. Or encourage your child to find a decent work to do in or around your neighbourhood. This is key in introducing the child to the world of work or business early, which is critical for preparing your child for future employment or entrepreneurship journey.

3. BUILD A READING CULTURE
encourages parents to ensure that their children make it a habit to read at least one book every 1-2weeks. This will keep the mind of your child fresh, and prepare him or for the next academic level. Also, it will open up your child to to key insights and new vocabularies and grammatical expressions that will be relevant in the next academic phase and his or future life journey.

4. ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERISM
encourages parents to permit and support their children to contribute to the development of their community. They can do this by volunteering their time, energy and ideas towards any menaingful community project. Or they can join any decent youth club, association and NGO that offers short-term volunteering opportunities to help their community through service delivery or community development. This is critical in preparing your child to "think about others", develop a passion to give back to their community and contribute towards making the world a better place to live.

These are four crucial insights and wisdom that should parents encourage their children to take advantage of them, they will grow up passionate, compassionate, equipped and prepared for the next level of their academic journey and future employment or entrepreneurship journey. YoRI JOINS UNFPA TO CELEBRATE MIDWIVES

"Today, UNFPA Ghana celebrates all midwives, especially those honoured this year for their selfless dedication to mothers, newborns and families.

Midwives remain at the heart of safe delivery and stronger health systems. This is why UNFPA continues to support midwifery through the Midwifery-Led Innovation Hackathon, simulation-based learning, mentorship, skills-building, support to training institutions, and our contribution to the Annual Midwives Awards.

When midwives are recognised, equipped and supported, mothers survive, babies thrive, and communities grow stronger.

For instance, has creatively co-selected and empowered key boundary actors and influencers across our communities to mobilize and drive systemic change and community transformation.
