This International Youth Day, we celebrate the young women and girls in rural communities who continue to dream, learn, lead and imagine a future beyond the limitations around them.

Because whether a young girl grows up in a big city or a small rural community, she deserves the same opportunity to dream, to be heard and to become everything she knows she can be.

Different places. Different realities. But the same hopes for a brighter future. 💙

This World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), we’re shining a light on the experiences of young mothers, especially those in rural communities who may face limited access to accurate information, fear of judgment, and little support.

Because sometimes, what a mother needs isn’t criticism.
She needs knowledge. She needs encouragement. She needs support. 🫶🏾

When we empower a young mother with the right information and surround her with understanding, we don’t just support her — we empower two lives: hers and her child’s.

A skill can change a life.

For many young people, opportunity doesn’t begin with a job offer, it begins with learning a skill.

A practical skill provides more than an income. It restores confidence, unlocks creativity, promotes independence, and gives young people the ability to create opportunities rather than wait for them. When we equip young people with relevant skills, we are not only reducing unemployment; we are building stronger families, resilient communities, and a more prosperous future.

At Upward Motion Foundation, we have seen this firsthand. Through our skills development initiatives, 15 young women have been trained in fashion design and 15 young girls in baking. Behind these numbers are young people discovering their potential, gaining confidence, and taking steps toward financial independence.

Our work is rooted in a simple belief: every young person deserves the opportunity to learn a skill that can transform their future.

As we mark World Youth Skills Day, we celebrate every young person who is learning, every mentor who is teaching, and every organization investing in the next generation. Together, we can create a future where skills become the bridge between potential and purpose.

World Youth Skills Day 🌍✨

Skills have the power to change lives. They build confidence, create opportunities, reduce unemployment, and empower young people to become self-reliant and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

At Upward Motion Foundation, we believe that when we invest in the skills of young people, we invest in a brighter future for all. Through our skills development initiatives, we have had the privilege of training 15 young women in fashion design and 15 young girls in baking, equipping them with practical skills that can become pathways to economic independence and lasting impact.

The future belongs to young people who are equipped not only with knowledge but also with the practical skills to innovate, create, and lead. This is why empowering the youth through skills development is not just important—it is essential.

As we celebrate World Youth Skills Day, we reaffirm our commitment to raising a generation of skilled, confident, and purpose-driven young people who will transform their families, communities, and the world.

At first, it seems small, just a lesson, a skill, a new idea. But given time, it grows into confidence, blossoms into opportunity, and bears the fruit of leadership, purpose, and the ability to create change and make an impact.

The beauty of learning is that it rarely changes only one life; its roots reach families, communities, and generations yet to come.

Across the world, millions of girls possess extraordinary potential. Yet potential alone is not enough. Potential must be nurtured, developed, and equipped.

This is why the conversation about girls and learning matters.

Learning is not limited to academics. It includes leadership development, communication, critical thinking, digital literacy, financial literacy, creativity, and life skills that prepare girls for the future.

When we equip girls to learn, we are doing more than educating individuals. We are investing in stronger families, more resilient communities, and sustainable development.

The future we hope to see begins with the girls we choose to equip today.

Because every empowered woman was once a girl who was allowed to learn.

Every child deserves the chance to dream, learn, and build a future filled with possibilities. Yet, millions of children around the world spend their days working instead of learning, carrying burdens that were never meant for their shoulders.

Child labour steals childhoods, limits potential, and keeps many children trapped in cycles of poverty. Education, however, opens doors to opportunity, empowers children with knowledge, and gives them the tools to create a better future for themselves and their communities.

On this World Day Against Child Labour, we stand for every child whose dream deserves a chance. Let us continue to advocate for a world where children carry books instead of burdens, where classrooms replace workplaces, and where every child is free to learn, grow, and thrive.
