๐ŸŒ Executive Director to Champion Youth Perspectives at High-Level Regional Dialogue in Togo

We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Director has been invited by the UNFPA to participate in the upcoming high-level Regional Dialogue, titled "Scaling Up the Prevention Agenda for the Gulf of Guinea: From Commitment to Impact," taking place in Lomรฉ, Togo, from June 2nd to 4th, 2026.

Our Executive Director Issah Toha Shamsoo will serve as a panelist during Session 3, "From Symptoms to Drivers: Whatโ€™s Working," where they will bring a vital youth perspective to the forefront of addressing sub-regional security challenges. This high-level dialogue represents a strategic opportunity to consolidate political commitment and transition from localized interventions to a scaled, system-based approach to conflict prevention in the sub-region.

The forum builds on a decade of critical lessons learned from countering violent extremism, tackling cross-border crimes, and advancing both the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas to explore proactive interventions that prevent the expansion of non-state armed groups.

A central focus of the meeting will be the newly extended Prevention Facility (2026โ€“2029), a powerful joint initiative by UNDP, UNFPA, and UNHCR. This integrated platform seamlessly combines governance, livelihoods, and protection approaches to enable a critical, long-overdue shift from reactive crisis responses to anticipatory, risk-informed prevention across the Gulf of Guinea.

"We cannot achieve sustainable peace without addressing the root drivers of conflict, and inclusive security starts with elevating youth leadership at the highest decision-making levels."

Please join us in celebrating this incredible opportunity, and stay tuned to our page as we share live updates and insights directly from Lomรฉ!

Our Executive Director, Issah Toha Shamsoo, had the pleasure of participating in a National Dialogue on โ€œGhanaโ€™s Youth and Climate Change.โ€

In his contribution, he highlighted the critical intersection between climate change, peace, and security. He underscored that rising temperatures in the Sahel region are pushing nomadic Fulani pastoralists southward into northern Ghana much earlier in the season than usual. This shift is leading to conflicts in local communities.

On agricultureโ€™s impact, he noted that the sector employs over 70% of the population in Ghanaโ€™s five northern regions. However, land degradation, erratic rains, and desertification have made rain-fed agriculture highly unreliable, resulting in widespread seasonal unemployment among rural youth.

He called for urgent attention and concerted efforts to address climate-induced conflict across Ghana.

Growth. Learning. Youth Leadership. โœจ

The Youth Interreligious Parliament continues to expand!

Last week, we welcomed new Youth MPs from Boayini and Mimima, alongside existing members, for an impactful induction and training on Youth, Peace and Security.

Together, we explored what the Youth, Peace and Security agenda means at the local level for meaningful youth participation and reflected on the โ€œTraits and Habits of a Peacebuilder.โ€

We envision a peaceful and prosperous world where young people lead transformative efforts that unite communities across religious and ethnic divides.
