๐ Executive Director to Champion Youth Perspectives at High-Level Regional Dialogue in Togo
We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Director has been invited by the UNFPA to participate in the upcoming high-level Regional Dialogue, titled "Scaling Up the Prevention Agenda for the Gulf of Guinea: From Commitment to Impact," taking place in Lomรฉ, Togo, from June 2nd to 4th, 2026.
Our Executive Director Issah Toha Shamsoo will serve as a panelist during Session 3, "From Symptoms to Drivers: Whatโs Working," where they will bring a vital youth perspective to the forefront of addressing sub-regional security challenges. This high-level dialogue represents a strategic opportunity to consolidate political commitment and transition from localized interventions to a scaled, system-based approach to conflict prevention in the sub-region.
The forum builds on a decade of critical lessons learned from countering violent extremism, tackling cross-border crimes, and advancing both the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas to explore proactive interventions that prevent the expansion of non-state armed groups.
A central focus of the meeting will be the newly extended Prevention Facility (2026โ2029), a powerful joint initiative by UNDP, UNFPA, and UNHCR. This integrated platform seamlessly combines governance, livelihoods, and protection approaches to enable a critical, long-overdue shift from reactive crisis responses to anticipatory, risk-informed prevention across the Gulf of Guinea.
"We cannot achieve sustainable peace without addressing the root drivers of conflict, and inclusive security starts with elevating youth leadership at the highest decision-making levels."
Please join us in celebrating this incredible opportunity, and stay tuned to our page as we share live updates and insights directly from Lomรฉ!
