Today, on International Womenโ€™s Day, we celebrate the courage, resilience, and power of women everywhere. Across communities, countries, and generations, women continue to challenge injustice, break barriers, and create pathways for those who will follow.

To every member of this network: your voice matters, your work matters, and your solidarity matters. Together, we are building a world where equality is not a dream but a realityโ€”where every girl can grow up knowing her rights, her worth, and her limitless potential.

Let today remind us that progress happens when women stand together, speak boldly, and support one another. May we continue to uplift each other, amplify unheard voices, and push forward until dignity, safety, and opportunity belong to all women and girls.

Happy International Womenโ€™s Day! The network is stronger because of you. ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

The three-day convening of African Women CSOs and Womenโ€™s Rights Organisations ahead of CSW70 in New York, hosted by FEMNET and WILDAF Ghana in Accra, concluded successfully.

Participants on the third day, clad in blue, symbolising justice, trust, and accountability, pledge to advance transformative legal and policy reforms through rigorous analysis, honest dialogue, and strategic planning.

Participants identified key setbacks to women's and girls' access to justice by women, including discriminatory laws, policy gaps, and implementation failures by state actors.

From legal pluralism to customary practices that harm, from inheritance rights to land ownership, from child marriage to GBV participants named the barriers and charted pathways to dismantle them.

WiLDAF Ghana proudly participated in the four-day ECOWAS Legacy/Commemorative Project on Gender Parity in Elected Bodies across ECOWAS Member States. The engagement formed part of the broader efforts under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to advance womenโ€™s political representation and inclusive governance in the region.

The activities included:

๐Ÿ”น A Regional Consultation on the Political Participation and Leadership of Women and Youth in West Africa
๐Ÿ”น A Meeting with Gender Experts
๐Ÿ”น A Ministerial Meeting
๐Ÿ”น A High-Level Advocacy Meeting

These strategic dialogues provided an important platform to strengthen commitments, share best practices, and push for concrete actions toward achieving gender parity in elected bodies across West Africa.

WiLDAF Ghana remains committed to advocating for policies and frameworks that promote equal representation and meaningful participation of women in decision-making spaces.

WILDAF Ghana in collaboration with FEMNET and NGOCSW/Africa organised the 5th Africa Disrupt CSW in Accra Ghana from the 17th to 19th February 2026. The Africa Disrupt Conference is a pivotal convening that brings together key stakeholders and advocates to shape Africaโ€™s feminist priorities ahead of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. Over 100 participants from across Africa participated in this conference in Ghana.

The NGO CSW/Africa is one of the regional forums of the Non-Governmental Organization Commission on the Status of Women, established in 2013 as a substantive committee under the Conference of NGOs (CoNGO). NGOCSW/Africa was created to enhance the effectiveness of African civil society engagement in the global Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The convening aimed at:

โ€ข Advancing transformative legal and policy reforms that uphold womenโ€™s and girlsโ€™ rights and dismantle structural and systemic barriers that continue to restrict their access to justice across Africa;
โ€ข Promoting feminist approaches to justice and accountability systems that are inclusive, survivor-centred, and responsive to the lived realities of African women and girls ensuring fair redress, protection, and equality before the law;
โ€ข Positioning the elimination of gender-based violence as integral to peace, security, and the rule of law, by advocating for stronger implementation of regional and global commitments that link access to justice with sustainable development and social transformation.
