A major step forward for community literacy in Ghana! 📚🚲

On 2nd March 2026, Apex Community Aid (ACAiD) had the privilege of engaging with the Ghana Library Authority (GLA) in a strategic partnership meeting that marks an exciting milestone for the READNRIDE Project.

This engagement sets the stage for a powerful collaboration aimed at transforming access to books and strengthening reading culture among children and young people in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region.

Through this partnership, READNRIDE will benefit from GLA’s technical expertise, access to quality reading materials, and integration of mobile library services—bringing learning opportunities closer to underserved communities. Even more impactful is the shared commitment to building local capacity, equipping community volunteers and project teams with the skills needed to sustain literacy efforts long-term.

With strong institutional backing and a shared vision, this collaboration positions READNRIDE as a model for effective NGO-government partnerships in expanding educational access across rural Ghana.

We are inspired by the enthusiasm and support from the leadership of both organisations, and we look forward to the next phase—formalising this partnership and rolling out activities that will create lasting impact in Kpandai.

Together, we are not just delivering books—we are opening doors to opportunity, one child at a time.

Imagine being a young child, full of dreams and curiosity, only to find your body becoming your greatest obstacle. For David Bonsu, this was not a distant fear — it was his daily reality.

📖🔖From Pain to Promise: The Story of David Bonsu
How the Apex Community Aid (ACAiD) Window of Hope Initiative Gave a Young Boy His Life Back

🤫 A Silent Struggle
Five years ago, David Bonsu — a bright and promising young student at Redco M/A 2 Basic School in LA Nkwantanang Madina, Accra — developed a hernia. What may seem like a medical condition to be quickly treated became, for David and his family, an overwhelming burden that quietly eroded the joys of childhood.

The hernia made it increasingly difficult for 17-year-old David to concentrate in class while preparing to write his final year West African Certificate Exams. Simple activities that other children took for granted — running, playing, sitting through lessons — became sources of discomfort and pain. The condition did not just affect him physically; it cast a shadow over his mental well-being, too. Day after day, David struggled in silence, his academic potential dimmed by the weight of an untreated illness.

🤞The Turning Point: Teachers Who Cared
It was the compassion of David's educators that changed everything. Madam Albert, his head teacher, and Mr. Manu, the assistant head of Redco M/A 2 Basic School, noticed that something was deeply wrong with their young student. Rather than look away, they chose to act.

Together, they reached out to the Apex Community Aid (ACAiD) — a beacon of hope for vulnerable individuals and communities across Ghana. Their timely intervention would prove to be a life-changing decision for David.

🪟💗The Window of Hope Initiative Steps In
ACAiD's Window of Hope Initiative exists precisely for moments like these — to bridge the gap between suffering and healing for those who cannot afford it on their own. Upon learning of David's condition, the initiative mobilised resources and ensured that he received the medical attention he so desperately needed.

David underwent a successful hernia surgery, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable. Today, he is no longer held back by pain. He attends his classes with renewed energy, participates in school activities, and is rebuilding the bright future that the illness had threatened to take from him.

"David's recovery is a testament to what is possible when a community refuses to abandon one of its own. His smile today is the reason we do this work."
— Apex Community Aid (ACAiD)

🫂 The Road Ahead: David Still Needs You 🫵
While David's surgery was a tremendous victory, his journey is far from over. Like many children in his community, David faces ongoing challenges that threaten his access to quality education, nutrition, and the full livelihood that every child deserves.

Your support can make the difference between David reaching his full potential and falling behind. Whether it is contributing to his school needs, healthcare follow-ups, or daily sustenance, every act of generosity directly impacts this young boy's future.

👉 Be a Part of David's Story
David Bonsu is one of the many lives that the Window of Hope Initiative has touched. With your support, ACAiD can continue to reach more children and families in need — because no one should have to face suffering alone.
