A controversy has emerged in the Ada Constituency following allegations that a cash donation of GH¢90,000 announced by the Member of Parliament for Ada, Madam Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, to support the Ghana National Ambulance Service and the Ghana National Fire Service was later withdrawn.

Sources within the emergency services who spoke to Opemeh News on condition of anonymity claimed that the money, which was publicly presented during an official event, was allegedly taken back shortly afterwards.

According to the sources, personnel were subsequently instructed to submit formal request letters through the offices of the Member of Parliament and the District Assembly before the funds could be released to them.

Some officers who spoke to the media after a recent stakeholder engagement organised by the MP described the situation as frustrating, claiming that similar requests had already been made prior to the public presentation.

A source close to the Ambulance Service alleged that immediately after the donation was showcased before cameras, the funds were retrieved and the beneficiaries were directed to follow an administrative process to access the money.

The source further claimed that officers had previously submitted requests for support but were later invited to the public event where the donation was announced.

The development has since generated debate on social media, with some residents questioning the circumstances surrounding the donation and the procedures required for accessing the funds.

Opemeh News has not independently verified the claims and efforts to reach the office of the Member of Parliament for comment are ongoing.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Madam Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for the Ada Constituency, has stated that complaints from residents should not be interpreted as attacks on any individual or institution, but rather as a call for improved service delivery.

According to her, public concerns and criticisms serve as important reminders to leaders and public institutions that citizens expect better performance and accountability.

Speaking at a stakeholders' engagement held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Aqua Safari Resort, Madam Cudjoe noted that all institutions operating within the Ada Constituency exist to serve the people and must therefore strive to provide efficient and diligent services.

She stressed that when concerns raised by residents are ignored, it could erode public confidence and trust in institutions and leadership.

Her comments come in the wake of a recent youth-led demonstration in Ada, during which residents expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as poor service delivery by some leaders and public institutions in both the Ada East and Ada West Districts.

The demonstrators embarked on a march of more than 12 kilometres and presented petitions to the two District Assemblies and traditional authorities, outlining concerns ranging from poor road networks to challenges in emergency healthcare services.

Addressing participants at the forum, Madam Cudjoe called on heads of institutions and stakeholders to openly share the challenges confronting their sectors so that practical solutions could be identified collectively.

As part of her support for critical public services, Madam Cudjoe donated GHC50,000 to the Ghana National Ambulance Service in Ada towards the purchase of a new engine for the district ambulance, which has been out of operation since December 13, 2025.

She also presented GHC40,000 to the Ghana National Fire Service to support the refurbishment of its faulty fire tender and improve emergency response within the constituency.
