Songtaba's mission is to build transformative and resilient communities through strategic partnerships, collective advocacy, and grassroots action with individuals and organizations. Songtaba is an organization committed to the realization of the aspirations and rights of women and children, especially girls, in the north-eastern part of Ghana. The organization was formed in 2005 and has since been working with organisations including NGOs, government agencies and community structures who share a vision of a violence-free and just society where women and girls as well as people with disability and exclusion enjoy their fundamental rights in the Northern region.

This week, Songtaba convened the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲, bringing together key service providers to strengthen their capacity to provide compassionate, confidential, and non-judgmental support to survivors of gender-based violence.

The training enhanced participants’ knowledge and skills in 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀. It also strengthened collaboration and referral pathways among to ensure more effective support for those affected by GBV.

It also Improved of service providers to deliver survivor-centred care, Strengthened coordination and referral mechanisms among stakeholders, Increased commitment to upholding the rights, dignity, and well-being of GBV survivors.

Together, we are building a system where every is heard, respected, and supported.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝘀.

Today, at Ruks Hotel Tamale, community members came together for a 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 Faith to Action Network to challenge harmful social norms, address gender-based violence (GBV), and promote positive masculinity.

Facilitated by trained during the July workshop, the session focused on challenging harmful practices and reaffirming the sacred duties of men in protecting the rights, dignity and well-being of women and girls.

𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Men, women, traditional and religious leaders, and community members must work together to challenge norms, speak out against violence and promote respect and equality.

As part of the Faith to Action Network initiative, we are bringing together community leaders, parents, youth, women, men, and other stakeholders for a community dialogue to challenge harmful social and gender norms and promote the rights and well-being of women and girls.

Drawing on lessons from the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗠𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀, the dialogue will focus on shared experiences, meaningful reflections and collective actions towards safer, more inclusive communities.

At Songtaba, we believe that when women and young people are equipped with knowledge, skills, resources and opportunities, entire communities are transformed.

Through the SPARK Change-Makers Project, we are supporting women and young people especially women-led enterprises and change-makers with capacity building, mentorship, business development support, networking and pathways to grant opportunities. The project is helping women build sustainable livelihoods, strengthen their voices, participate in decision-making, and lead positive change in their communities.

Earlier this week, 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 for a two-day monitoring and review visit. Together with our partners, we reviewed project progress, financial performance, partner responsibilities, results and implementation milestones. We celebrated key achievements, discussed challenges and agreed on 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆.

We remain committed to creating inclusive spaces where women and young people can learn, lead, innovate and thrive.

#𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕𝑻𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚 | 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕.

At the recent Vibrant Village Foundation (𝗩𝗩𝗙) 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁, Songtaba joined fellow partners to reflect on project achievements, share lessons and best practices and explore ways to deepen our collective impact in the communities we serve.

A key highlight was a thought-provoking session facilitated by our Executive Director Hajia Lamnatu Adam on 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆. The discussion focused on how NGOs and CSOs can navigate declining donor by exploring alternative funding streams, strengthening local resource mobilization, and adopting innovative approaches to sustain their work and .

The session provided practical insights from that are successfully diversifying their funding sources, reinforcing an important lesson: sustainable organizations are better positioned to create lasting change.

𝑮𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚 | 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑.

A child should never have to sit on the floor to learn. During our routine visits, Songtaba identified a concerning situation at Lungni Morning Star A School, where many pupils lacked furniture and were forced to sit on the floor during lessons and .

Determined to help change this reality, Songtaba engaged Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Bimbilla Branch and today, through this partnership, 𝟲𝟬 𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹.

What was once a challenge has now become an opportunity for children to learn in 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

We sincerely appreciate 𝗚𝗖𝗕 𝗕𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵 for responding to our call and investing in the education of vulnerable children. This is a reminder that when organizations work together, lasting change is possible.
